They finally get to the destination of the gates to the City of Bones and Leo still didn't agree with this plan. He thinks it is utterly stupid but he can't tell them about Magnus unless he wants to go through some serious amount of pain. He can't even write it out either.

He's tried to do it before but when Mom saw him try she got Magnus to cast another spell that would physically stop him from writing if anything supernatural was related.

She was definitely the mother of the year. Note the sarcasm.

When they get out of the van there were little bonfires spread all across the area. "Yeah, this place isn't creepy. Not at all," Simon comments sarcastically.

"Can you try to be helpful, please?" Leo asked in annoyance because Simon's remarks were only agitating him more.

"Don't tell me you're afraid," Izzy chuckles teasingly.

"Are you kidding me? I was born afraid...which sounded a lot better in my head," Simon states, getting embarrassed and Leo face-palmed himself.

At the beginning of summer, Simon begged Leo to teach him how to flirt and as you can see, it hadn't paid off to well. After a disastrous lesson, Leo just gave Simon a list of pick-up lines and situations each one would be good in and wished him good luck.

"Let's check it out," Alec suggested as a way to use it as an excuse to get away from them.

"Wait here a minute. I wanna see if it's safe," Jace told Clary protectively before leaving.

"Why are we doing this? We don't even know these people?" Simon asked Leo as Clary looks through her phone not even paying attention to anything else.

"Just because you are jealous doesn't mean we have to jeopardize Clary's life because of it. There is a war going on that won't be fixed by a simple search on the internet. We are going to have to add people to the group and trust them or at least be civil. It is not just the 3 of us against the world anymore," Leo explains in utter honesty.

He knew it might have been a little harsh but Simon needs the tough love in order to get the bigger picture. Leo couldn't protect Clary against Valentine with just Simon as a defense. Valentine was too powerful of an individual and Leo needed to work smarter and not harder.

After that Clary comes back to them with her full-undivided attention. "I just wish mom trusted me enough to tell me about this," Clary said disappointedly.

"She just wanted one of us to grow up normal," Leo grunted out with clench teeth. He loved Clary, he did really but that didn't mean he wasn't jealous of the oblivious childhood she grew up with. He let out a sigh but he noticed Simon staring at them weirdly and it seemed Clary did too.

"What is it, what is wrong?" Clary asked him also noticing the way Simon was looking at them.

"How are you not ultra-freaked about all of this?" He asked in disbelief.

"I guess I just always felt like there was something missing. Some void I couldn't quite explain. Things are finally starting to making sense. But none of it matters until we get mom back." She explained frankly and Leo gave her a side hug as a show of comfort. He couldn't give much more than that as his mind was battling to stay calm. His thoughts were occupied by the childhood his mother forced him to have.

While they were conversing Jace, Izzy, and Alec were having their own conversation. "If something goes wrong...If something happens to them, that is on us. You know that don't you?" Alec asked Jace. He needed to make sure Jace understood what he was getting himself into. What Jace was getting all of them into.
