Wheels of Freedom [SNK/AOT Fic]

I saw a tumblr post on iFunny suggesting that there should be an SNK AU where instead of riding on horses, the Survey Corps used the little scooters that elementary school kids play on for PE. Those things were the best. If you don't know what those are just type in "plastic scooters" or "scooter boards" into Google Images. Anyway, when I saw that there was a need for such a fic, what was I to do by to oblige? Don't take this fic too seriously, it's really kind of a joke and it's my first time posting anything fanfictiony on the Internet so don't expect too much from it. Enjoy!

Eren wiped the sweat from his palms as he took in a deep breathe. He believed in Erwin's plan one hundred percent, but that didn't stop him from feeling a bit nervous. It was going to be his first expedition outside the walls, after all. As nervous as he was though, he couldn't help but feel a since of overwhelming power. Never again would he feel as useless and weak as he had five years ago when the Titans first breached the walls. With his training embedded in him and his comrades at his side, there wasn't a Titan that he couldn't slay.

Eren strapped on his 3DMG with ease, letting his experience with the gadget show. Oozing with confidence, Eren turned to see Levi and Petra approach him. "Are you ready for your first expedition, Eren?" Petra said with a sweet smile.

"Of course!" Eren replied eagerly.

"You're going to need one of these then," Petra said as she handed Eren a colorful board. Eren's eyes lit up as he grabbed hold of the smooth plastic scooter. He spun each of the wheels in awe. These scooters were engineered to be able to glide at extreme speeds, so fast that they would be able to escape even the fastest Titan's relentless pursuit. When he was younger, Eren had always admired the way the Recon Corps rolled into town after a successful attack on the Titans. Now it was Eren's turn to take the fight to the giant humanoid beasts.

Blood rushed to Eren's ears as Erwin shouted the command to move out. Eren watched as Levi and Petra expertly positioned themselves onto their scooters. Eren tried his best to mimic what the two elder soldiers had done, but his inexperience caused him to fumble and stand out like a sore thumb.

"Tch. Don't mess this up, brat." Levi said with an extreme lack of emotion, then, with a swift thrust of the legs, he was speeding off. Petra smiled at Eren one last time before racing off after Levi.

Eren heaved one last breath before he launched himself after Levi and Petra. Eren had never experienced something like this before. The entire legion fell into their assigned groups as they glided over the plains in complete unison. Eren couldn't help but smile. With the wind whipping through his already messy hair and the scenery blurred by his acceleration, Eren felt Free! for the first time in his life.

He grew a bit cocky with how quickly he had picked up on the art of scooting, so he decided to show off his skills with some simple twists and turns. Eren Yaeger immediately regretted this decision. Everything had been going just fine until a slight bump in the road cause Eren's grasp slip from one of the handles. As he attempted to regain his grip, his hand hit the ground and his fingers were crushed as they slid beneath the wheels of the scooter. Pain shot up Eren's arm and throughout his entire body.

With the goal of regaining control of his scooter in mind and the pain of his mutilated fingers scorching his body, he was overcome by a familiar and unwelcome sensation. With a flash of lightning, Eren transformed into a Titan. A red flare flew through the sky, causing the entire Recon Core to slow their scooters and turn around. They weren't even five minutes in, and the mission was already a failure. If only there had been a safer means of transportation outside the walls, then the mission might have succeeded. Well, back to the drawing board.
