Chapter One----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jessica's POV-

Beautiful is one word that can define it.

The beautiful view of the mountains from my holiday house in Charlottes Pass. The breath taking sight of the snow falling on the mountains, which indicates the start of the skiing season.

I wasn’t looking forward to my winter break, because every winter holiday my family and I go up to our holiday house, and after last year’s events I really couldn’t see why there was any reason to go back.

I regretted this day, ever since we got home last year. I tried to push the memories away, but no matter how hard I tried they would budge.

I shook my head, thinking about it gave me a headache. I had thought up a plan to get out of our winter tradition, pretend to have so much homework and studying to do that I couldn’t possibly tear myself away.

I was sitting on my double bed, looking out the window at the frost covering the road. There was a knock at my door. I turned around to see the door flung open and my mum walking in with an angry face.

‘Why haven’t you packed!’ she snapped.

‘Well, I was thinking, I have so much homework that maybe I should stay and study at home and you guys can go ahead and have fun…’ I said

‘Jessica…’ she said sitting on the bed and stroking my dyed brown hair.  ‘Now it wouldn’t be a holiday without you! I’m so impressed that you want to focus on your work but how about you just take it all with you. There a desk in your room up there can’t be any different from down here.’ She said in a happy tone, before I even got a chance to debate about it… ‘Hurry up and pack we are leaving in an hour.’ she was gone out of the room.

‘Arggg.’ I groaned as I got up from my soft bed. Opening my wardrobe I reached up and pulled down my suitcase from a shelf at the very top. I laid it out on my green and white leaved bedspread and started to pack things. My jeans, leggings, warm coats, jumpers, top bras and undies. I shoved in my ugg boots, as the suit case was close to full. I zipped it up and wheeled it out to the hallway. My younger sister Gabriella was standing in her doorway to her room, death staring me. Her blonde hair was braided back into a single plat.

‘What’s up?’ I said to her, she just gave me a dirty look and walked past me down the stairs. I didn’t think that she would still be mad at me from last year. ‘Get over yourself!’

‘I am, but you clearly aren’t.’ she said in an angry tone.

‘I don’t even get why you’re still mad at me! I said sorry!’

‘That’s the point, you don’t get it, I love him, and you clearly can’t help see me happy for once in your life.’

‘Do you still talk to him?’

She bit her lip and her blue eyes moved from my green eyes down to her feet.

‘Well do you?’ I asked

‘Yes!’ she screamed, and rolled her eyes.

Part of the reason why my last winter break sucked was because I got into a massive fight with my sister over a guy. He turned out to be a two timer who chose her over me. I was so mad at her that I sabotaged one of her skis in the relay race, apart from her team losing; she also broke her right leg and fractured two ribs. I confessed to it straight away, after half a year of being grounded my parents forgave me but my sister never has.

‘What will it take for you to forgive me?’ I pleaded

‘A bloody miracle!’ she mumbled and stormed away.

I really miss her, all the fun holidays we’d have together. I get that she’s very angry about what happened but it’s been a whole year! I gripped the black suitcase and wheeled it down the stairs. It thudded on each step making the whole house shake. Once down, I continued out through my wooden kitchen and through the front door.

‘Jessie, nice to see you this morning!’

‘Yeah….’ I mumbled looking at him. I laughed, as he was dressed in baggy jeans a black woollen jumper and he was wearing a red and black stripped beanie that was covering his bold head.

‘You might want to take a pillow for the trip…’ he said

‘Yeah maybe.’

‘While your getting one dress more for the location were going too….’he said trailing off.

I walked back through the house and up the stairs to my room. I opened my wardrobe and picked out a pair of skinny jeans, and my classic lui viton navy trench coat. I let my brown hair fall loose and shoved on a grey French beret beanie from Forever New. I walked back down stairs to our kitchen and spotted Gabi sitting on one or the four bench stools. I walked into the kitchen and opened the pantry. I had a little look around and grabbed a packet of M&M’s for the trip. Shoving them into my pocket I closed the pantry and walked to the car.

I opened the backseat door to our Mercedes  and slid in. Once in my seat I pulled my iPhone out of my Oroton bag and grabbed the head phone and plugged them in. I put on my favourite song… call me maybe and then placed my bag onto the floor. Closing my eyes I sat in a cold car by myself.
