Wednesday, April 9th, 2156, Arken Road, Philadelphia. 5 minutes remaining…
“Omnicorp has officially sold all bi- products of Malphine to Philadelphia Harbor.” Malphine is mixed with Rodium and Luchesite to create hyper- active plasma explosions. As presented in Los Angeles in 2143, during the 2nd Corporation War.
“Rachel dear, we’re meeting your dad in a few minutes at Petache Square.” Rachel’s mom, Diane informed. “Okay mommy.” Rachel responded with a smile. Rachel was down by the harbor with her mother. They both needed a break from home. Diane had just bought a new kite for Rachel. Today was windy enough for kite flying, and not a cloud in the sky. “Mommy! The wind is stealing my kite!”Rachel wined. “I’m coming dear!” Diane laughed. She thought Rachel deserved this time off for being such a good girl at her recent memory erase.
Diane’s husband, Michael was working at Algemated Inc. in Chicago. Diane and Michael moved to New York City from Prague after Democracy was abolished in Europe. Monarchy was born again, leading to Christianity being the world’s dominant religion. Anyone devout to any other kind of religion, including atheism, were publicly tortured and murdered. Thus the 5th European war was declared.

Diane helped Rachel take back her kite. “It’s a beautiful day Rachel, I think we should pack up soon and meet your dad,” Diane said, covering her eyes from the sun. The waves from the river crashed against the seawall violently, spraying Diane. “Oh! Pffftt!” Diane spat. Rachel chuckled, then gave her a thumbs up. Diane’s smile turned into a bitter frown and she whispered, “If only Carl was here.”
“Who’s Carl?” Rachel asked, with all of her innocence. “Oh! He… he’s just a distant friend that’s all,” Diane resolved, then sighed. “Let’s go see daddy!” Rachel yelled with excitement. “Okay my little princess, we’ll get some vanilla ice cream along the way!” Rachel smiled then ran over and hugged her mom. Diane did this with Rachel every Wednesday since October 17th, 2152.
The wind stopped completely, dropping Rachel’s kite to the ground. “Mommy! The wind broke my kite!” Rachel cried. “Oh dear! Let’s have a look, shall we?” Diane said. “Yes we shall!” Rachel pouted.

Diane crouched down and investigated the broken kite. “This is nothing Rachel, all that’s damaged is the wood, but only a little,” Diane smiled and comforted her daughter. She picked up the kite and gave Rachel a kiss on the cheek. “We should go now hun, before we’re missed by your dad.” At that moment, the town hall clock struck twelve. The bells pounded into each other, releasing the echo of the bells all across town. All the crows beside Diane flew off into the sky in a panic, and circled Rachel in the air. The crows yelled and crowed, then left. Giant puggy grey clouds blocked the sun from the sky, the waves stopped slithering and muted. Everything was silent but the cars and trucks.
1 minute remaining…
“Agh! I have no service. No contact with Michael,” Diane complained. The televisions behind the glass of the market store flickered and turned on. All 40 of them glitched with black and white screens. A weird, fuzzy noise was coming from them. Diane and Rachel weren’t looking at them, instead they were dropping coins into the water. “Quick Rachel, make a wish!” Diane obligated. Rachel closed her eyes and said, “I wish this day would never end - that me and my family will live together forever!”
30 seconds remaining…
“Huh. Not so bad hanging out with your mother once in a while?” Diane sassed Rachel. “What?” Rachel questioned. “Oh nevermind, just give me a hug!” Rachel ran up to Diane and hugged her tight. They both smiled over each other's shoulders. “We’re late, I'll hail a cab for us to dad.” Diane said.
