an angel's song

tom sat on the ceiling fan, the red angel behind him, floating in air. the duo had been watching tom's friends for a couple of weeks now, making sure they weren't hurt like him.

even though tom was not in his real body, he still felt the pain of his friends since his accident.

the living ghost was brought out of his thoughts when the fan he had been sitting on turned on, and he tried to hold on.

unfortunately, he couldn't hold on for long as was flung to the side, spinning in air.

"you okay there, stars?"

"i guess. . .that wasn't expected."

"i know."

tom turned around to face tord, who was smiling, even though his red tinted eyes gave away worry.

"that's good. i mean, that you didn't get hurt."

tom ignored him and turned to face his friends again.

he watched his friends with a dull expression, an unfamiliar feeling dancing in his chest.

what was it? he knew it wasn't boredom, he felt that every day.

sorrow, maybe? tom did feel sorry for his friends, having to make them deal with life while he was in a coma.

"that feeling is regret."

tom finally turned around, facing tord with a confused expression.

"what?"

"you regret a lot of things, don't you stars?"

tom said nothing, instead simply staring like a lost dog, or a child that wanted something.

"well, i mean, yeah, i guess."

"you must have pushed that feeling away, and now that your not in front of your friends, your letting it out."

". . ."

tom turned around again, his vision blurring out. he wiped his eyes and looked at his hands when he felt something liquid.

crying. tom was crying. and he couldn't help it, so he let it all out silently, even though he shook quietly.

"stars?"

he ignored it.

"hey, please answer me. i'm worried."

tom ignored the angel once again.

he heard a sigh and tensed when something wrapped around him.

"i know that what's going on right now is tough. but your strong, i know you are."

tom turned around and hugged the angel, crying into his chest.

"i remember tears streaming down your face when i said i'd never let you go,"

tom slowly opened his eyes, tears still streaming.

"when all those shadows almost killed your light,"

he let out a small sob, holding onto tord slightly tighter.

"i remember you said, 'don't leave me here alone',"

tom put his face in tord's shoulder again, sobbing and hiccuping now.

"but all that's dead and gone and past, tonight, tonight,"

"just close your eyes, the sun is going down,"

"you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now,"

"come morning light, you and i will be safe and sound, sound."

tom listened to the song until his eyes got heavy.

By now he had stopped crying, instead closed his eyes and loosened his posture.

tom slowly fell asleep in tord's arms, still holding onto tord.

tord smiled as he floated to the ground, sitting against the wall while still holding tom.

"goodnight, my star."
