Chapter 2

Aliyah's POV

A pretty red headed girl with blue eyes was kneeled in front of me with her hand over her mouth and my oldest brother, Nathan, stood behind her brushing back her hair while his eyes were focused in me, hinting concern. Honestly, I can't see how you can love someone like that. A mate is just baggage that you have to drag behind you everywhere you go.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed as she reached forward to touch my head. I grabbed her hand before she could touch me.

"I'm fine, don't beat. yourself up" I grumble as I stand.

"You're bleeding! I should be more careful..." I honestly don't know what she said since I tuned her out. "I'm Melanie! Whats your name? Ooh! We should be best friends that would be fun!"

"The name's Aliyah and my siblings don't have to force their mates to become my friend." I say the last part through gritted teeth. "I'm leaving" and that's exactly what I do.

I leave through the back door and decide to go for a walk. My birthday is in 2 days and when I meet my mate I'm going to reject him. It's too soon to settle down and that's what most couples want to do, I'm not ready for that.

After walking for awhile I make my way to my favorite place in the entire world. It's a large rock in the middle of the woods located under a water fall that falls into a river that leads to a small creek. I sit down near the river and look down into the water. This is the only place I can actually relax and wipe the 'badass' facade off.

Being an alpha's child I'm naturally pretty and I can see that but like every girl I'm insecure.I'm thin, but unlike people think, I have to work to keep fit especially because I haven't shifted yet, which fucking sucks. I sigh and turn away from the water. I push my pretend sleeves up my arms (yes, I'm that weird) and begin climbing up the rock. Exhausted, I collapse on the cool stone and decide to finish off where I left off this morning and take a short.... or maybe a long nap.

Nathaniel's POV

The Blood Moon Pack has been sending spies onto our territory. Lately alpha has had me on extra shifts. He's been stressing out and at 22 he still hasn't found his mate. he says he's fine but I know, as his best friend, that he defiantly is not fine.

He hasn't been sleeping and I doubt it's only because of the rouges. Since he took over as alpha his famous scowl has never left his face. I hope he finds her soon, he's not coping with things well, making irrational decisions.
