Introduction

Panting Rubens woke up from her nightmare; these were haunting her almost every single night. the nightmares were the same every night, a man chasing her and she had nowhere to go. A bead of cold sweat rolled of her forehead, she decided to practice for her upcoming and dreading deguno to take her mind off things. A deguno was a test that everyone on the island of Orba had to take when they reached the age of 15. It was a physical test but it did require quick thinking and skill. The deguno was taken to classify their pars, which are numbers that are assigned to every person to classify their jobs living standard, and position in society. The best pars you could get into were gold, and the worst bronze. The in the middle pars were rose gold and silver. The deguno for each person was generated based on a previous life experience, so for practice all you really could do was study other people's deguno's. Rubens took out a file for one of the most famous deguno passes ever, Jacin Eralnd's. His pass was so extraordinary; no one that had ever lived on Orba got a score greater than his. Some people thought that it was a little biased since his father was prime minister, but what could you do. What his task was no one knew, but his score was 280 out of 300. He was given a gold status, and was promoted the job as military commander. Since it didn't show what his task was, it was useless to look at his file, but Rubens vowed she would do better than he did. So taking one last glance at his pale face and platinum hair, she put the file away and started studying other files.
