"Open my present next!" Miguel's cheery self would say as we would all gather around the old cot we used as a table. My dad would open Miguel's gift as we all waited to see what it might be.
"Oh my. How did you manage to get your hands on this?" My dad pulled out a silver pocket watch. My mother looked at me, and then I looked at Miguel. I am curious as well where he could have found it. I am really hoping he didn't steal; please god no, I hope he didn't steal it.
"When Lana took me to the park last week I found it under the slide buried in the bark. I tried to clean it for you, but there might be a little dirt still in the chain. It still works I adjusted it to the right time," putting the watch to his ear my dad listened for the ticking noise.
"Well would you look at that," he smiled brightly and gave Miguel a huge hug.
"Merry Christmas dad."
"Merry Christmas son," It was such a picture perfect moment. Despite living in an abandoned fire department I couldn't picture a better moment to spend time with my family.
As I was giving my mom her present we heard a loud crash somewhere in the station.
"What was that?!" My mom said slightly panicking.
"I will go check it out," My father got up from the cot to investigate the noise.
"I'll go to!" Miguel said running after him.
"No you have to stay here. I will be fine,"
