Day 1:
The sound of my alarm clock buzzes off, My eyes open for a brief moment, Then closed again. A few seconds later, my eyes burst open wide.
Today was the day I was going to the Marines!
I jump out of bed, And do everything I usually do but at a much faster pace.
An hour passes by and I'm ready to go. I decide to call my family and tell them goodbye. I start my car up and call my parents.
"Hey mom, todays the day, im heading out." I say.
"Honey! I cant believe its the day! Please be careful out there!"
"Don't worry mom, I'll be ok."
After 15 minutes I said goodbye to all my family members.
I go in my car and give my home one last glance.
"This could be the last time I see my home." I say to myself.
I finally drive my car down the road. Its an 8 hour drive to Boot Camp.
My heart is racing and im thinking of all the possible things that could happen to me. But I don't turn back.
8 Hours later...
By the time I get to Boot Camp (Camp Hawstinson) Its pitch black out.
As soon as I head in, im greeted by a Staff Sergeant.
"The names Carter, Carter Johnson. You can call me Cart."
Carter seemed pretty friendly to me, "Im Mike, Mike Autumns"
"Welcome to Camp Hawstinson rookie! I'll help you make yourself comfortable here." Carter said.
So we walked down to the Northern side of the Camp, I began to ask him a few questions.
"How long have you been here for?" I ask.
" Two years. I've been deployed 18 times. Im a member of a of a Canine unit or K9 for short, I've got a dog here named Rocky. Hes quite a good searcher when it comes to IEDS and explosives."
"Wow, I guess it must be pretty nice then." I say.
"Yeah, So how long are you in service for?"
"12 months, but I'll probably re-enlist." I say.
"Thats great to hear then! Im sticking around hopefully for another 16 months."
"Nice." I say.
After about 7 minutes of walking, we reach what Carter calls 'Home'
"Heres home kid! Make yourself comfortable because trainings on the 3rd day!" He says.
"Alright, see you around, I gotta unpack." I say.
"Alright, see you." He replies.
A moment later he's gone. I set down my Sleeping Bag. My clothes, my food and water, and some other stuff. I head out to the front of the 'Home' and printed in big gold letters is the phrase: Semper Fidelis. The Marine motto. It means: Always faithful.
Anyway I head into my sleeping bag and begin to fall asleep.
Before I know it, im out cold.
