/Roxanna's POV/
I woke up with a massive headache. My memories of last night were jumbled, but I could make out a girl named....um...what was her name?
Well, I could remember a girl who saved my night from being the worst in history.Nathan, a barista at a local cafe that I love, invited me to a date at Deja Vu and stood me up. I was just going to drink the night into oblivion after that, but that girl - still can't remember her name - saved that night. I wish I got her number or something.
I yawned and thumped out of bed. I went downstairs and started a pot of coffee. I rummaged through the fridge and pulled out some pare juice; it's said to cure hangovers. I took a swig of it and sat down on the white, plush couch in my living room.
I turned the TV on and switched it over to the local news station. The coffee pot dinged. I hopped into the kitchen and quickly poured a cup of coffee and sat back on the couch. I took a sip of coffee and read the headline: "Local Woman Reported Missing". As I looked at the picture, I spit my coffee out in a spray all over the glass coffee table.
That's her!
I turned the TV up.
"Rebecca Hilton's landlord and work colleagues reported her missing earlier this morning. Anybody who has any information on her disappearance or has recently seen her should contact the local police department," the blonde news anchor stated.
Wow. Rebecca. That's her. That's the girl. Looks like I'm going to be taking a trip to the police station.
I arrived at the station and walked up to the lady at the front desk.
"How may I help you?" she said.
I swallowed, "I'm here about..um.. Rebecca Hilton, the missing girl..."
"Okay, him. I'll have you with an officer in a minute."
"Okay."
I looked around in the lobby. There was only one person in there, a young guy, looks kind of built, with a nice pair of blue eyes. I sat down next to him, smoothing down the tail of my blazer.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, I cleared my throat, "So, um, what's your name?"
He looked over at me, "Sam. Yours?"
"Roxanna. Just call me Anna," I wiped my hands on my jeans as they were starting to clam up.
"Why are you here?" he asked.
I smoothed my hair back and sighed, "That girl, Rebecca. You?"
He was quiet for a second.
Looking down at the floor, he said, "Same. How do you know her?""I fucked her last night, I think. I can't remember all to well. Met her at Deja Vu," I said in a low voice.
"Well, I ran into her, like literally, last night on my evening run and gave her my number," he swallowed nervously.
"Ha," I snorted, "Looks like she's a player with the guys and the ladies."
He half-heartedly laughed, "Well, she's pretty."
"Eh, well just beauty doesn't take one very far...," I stopped talking and stared off.
"Miss Rosanna?" an officer said, poking his head around the side of a corner.
"Roxanna," I corrected.
"Miss Roxanna, could you please come with me?" he said.
I stood up and went through the door, which had a frosted glass window on it like in hospitals.
I passed multiple offices and empty rooms that looked like a place where suspects are questioned in shows and movies. And then it dawned on me.
They might suspect me as her abducted.
"I'm Officer Caine," he said as he stretched his hand out toward me.
I took it mindlessly and said, "Nice to meet you."
He opened a door into one of the chilling questioning rooms and I took a deep breath before stepping across the threshold.
Here goes nothing.
