Lucy's Point of View
The rest of the school day went by pretty fast, if you'd ask me. Long hours of homework awaits me at home.As I walk home with my brother, he couldn't stop talking about Ayla. It bugged me a lot.
"When I first saw her, I knew there was a connection. Could she also be one of the Fae?" excitedly exclaimed my brother.
I stopped walking as I heard what he said. He didn't seem to notice and kept walking towards home.
My eyes widen in fear as he asked the last question. No, she can't be.
"There's an unlikely chance," I replied quickly. I avoid my brother's glance as I lifted up the reddish orange flowerpot to retrieved the key underneath it. The door instantly unlocked. My brother went into the house as I slammed the door behind me.
We took our sneakers off and laid it on the mat. I went to the kitchen to bake myself an egg omelette. I cracked two eggs into a small glass bowl, and added salt and pepper for flavor. Making sure the pan was heated, I transferred the mixture from the glass bowl to the pan. The aroma of the eggs and loud sizzling told me it was ready to flip after several minutes. I put the omelette into a plate and poured water in the pan. "Get the omelette!" I screeched as I washed the pan with dish soap.
My brother strides into the room and snatched the omelette. I groaned, following him into the living room as we shared the delicious treat.
"What do you see in Ayla?" I questioned as I stuffed my face with omelette. I washed it down with a sip of water. He rolled his eyes while turning to face me. "Are you dumb? If she is a Fae, I could possibly date her. The bloodlines won't be clogged anymore."
In the past generations, our species "Humans" have been having relationships with other humans. This has led to future generations having mental problems and being emotionally unstable and attached. Breeding with another species could improve our future significantly since there would be two, not one like before, bloodlines.
Just because we were meant to breed doesn't mean there aren't any consequences. For a human to successfully mate with a Fae, the human must go through a series of tasks for approval. The outcome isn't really pretty.
"Are you there?" My brother asks me when I haven't been responding. He doesn't wait for my answer, but he does goes to the kitchen and washes the plate.
I made sure that the brother was out of the room before I removed his phone from the table.
"I'm going to do my homework!" I yelled to my brother as I jogged up the stairs, tightly clutching his phone. I locked my room so he won't "accidentally" walk in. I laughed to myself as I imagined his expression if he walked in.
I unlocked his phone, went into his contacts, and dialed Ayla's number.
