A Promise Fulfilled
~~~●●●~~~
Wang Jung wakes up when he suddenly sniffed that wonderful fragrance circulating the room.
What's that? He wondered silently in his still half asleep consciousness.
Instinctively he reached for the other side of the bed. Even though his face is still buried on his pillow, he can't help the grin that is to starting to hover on his face at the very thought of spending a day like this one together with her, finally.
His hand kept moving across that part of the bed, utterly searching for that familiar warmth but then he realized that it is already empty and so he just got up on his feet.
She's already outside huh. He thought in slight disappointment.
Jung just then rubbed his face with the palm of his hands instead to fully wake himself up. After he took a look around and attempted to find the source of that seemingly familiar aroma albeit he can't actually pinpoint what it is exactly as of the moment.
First he searched the wholeness of his own bed. When he found nothing, he moved his eyes up to the window on the west side of the room then to the window on that of the east as well but still he couldn't find anything. Until his gaze finally fell upon that wooden table situated at the fartherst corner of the room and that's when he saw it.
"I knew it." He blurted to himself. A huge smile dawned on his face this time.
On the top of that table, there is lie an exquisite porcelaine vase which is full of fresh freesia flowers, band in different colors. No wonder their room smells like heaven.
Freesias are beautful and fragrant flowers that cannot be cultivated in Goryeo at that time. Therefore it is considered as a rare and expensive product which can only be availed with the help of the kingdom's travelling and high profile merchants.
All his life even though he is already living in the grandeur and comfort of the King's palace as the 14th Prince of Goryeo, he recalled that he only actually saw those kind of flowers in person twice. First is when one of the ministers of the kingdom presented it as a gift to the king during the latter's birthday celebration and second is when he bought some from a foreign merchant on his way home from one of his battles, thinking that it would be a lovely gift for an equally lovely special someone of his.
Jung walks towards those freesias. Then he took a stem of a white variety and lifted it up to his nose for a sniff. The enticing scent instantly filled his senses with nothing but pleasantness.
Suddenly memories from that last time when he gifted that special someone with those freesias vividly pictured on his mind once again. He will never forget the joy that painted on her beautiful face as he handed her that bouquet. It will always be one of his happiest memories; already etched in his heart for eternity.
"Ah I missed her already." He mumbled to himself.
With that Jung immediately exited the room and went to the garden. He knew that by that hour of the morning his wife is always in there and already attending to her beloved greens like usual.
"Yeobo are you here? Yeobo?" He called as he approached the garden. "Soo?" He followed lovingly.
When he finally stepped into the open, out of nowhere a wonderful melody filled the air.
As it blows past
But the one small ray of sun makes me smile
Everyone is so busy
They get on with their lives
But that one friend makes me smile
When I find a place where loneliness does not exist
Join me there my friend, come with meMy dear friend thank you for being you
Jung saw his wife in the middle of their garden staring at him. A loving expression masking her face as she sings that very song which captivates his heart from the very beginning. Beside her is a table which has a big and delicious looking cake on it.
He smiled fondly at her in return. Tears of happiness started to brim on his eyes as well.
Although the silent sky
Seems different from yesterday
How can you blame anyone?Jung stood still on his ground despite the fact that at that moment he desperately wanted to go to his wife's already and hold her in his arms as well as kiss her senselessly. Of course he strongly held himself. After all he doesn't want to ruin that performance, that promise, with his untimely urges. And so he just patiently waited and savor the music instead.
Maybe everyone in the world has nightmares
How can I cry by myself
There's a place I wanted to return to
Now even my footprints seem unfamiliar to meMy dear friend
Thank you for being youRight after the last note escaped from Hae Soo's lips, Jung immediately bridged the cap between them and enveloped her in his tight embrace. Then he pulled away slightly, turned his head down and gave his wife a soft yet very passionate kiss.
"Happy birthday my love. I hope you liked my gifts." Soo mouthed softly against his lips.
"Thank you honey. They were the best. You are the best. I couldn't ask for more." He whispered in return and then claimed her lips once more.
