Prologue 2

"Do you want me to find the other children of the king's, sir," asks a man with a scar on his eye.

"No," says another man, sitting on the king's throne, acting like the king. "They would already be guarded by the king's men. We don't have to. Besides, we already have the king's kingdom and his youngest child. He could never suffer more."

"What are we going to do with the royal family that we have?"

"Well, first we kill the king's wife right in front of him. Then we tell him that we won't kill his daughter."

"Why would we do that, sir?"

"Because, my dear brother, we need him to have hope. But right before he dies, we shall tell him that we will let her rot and she will have an awful life. Then we will tell him that it's all because of him."

"But why don't we just kill him right after we kill his wife?"

"Because, we already crushed his heart. Telling him we'll spare his daughter will bring life back into it. When we tell him his daughter will not be happy and it's all his fault, his heart will be crushed again."

"But why do we need to crush his heart twice?"

"For fun, my dear brother, for fun." the new "king" says, "Now the execution of the king's wife is tomorrow at eight a.m. Be sure the king is there, too. Now leave," and the bows and left.

It is seven fifty-five when they retrieve the king and his wife from the dungeon. They bring the king and queen to the execution room. They force them to their knees ten feet apart.

"Ah, King Tom, how wonderful it is that you could join us." says the man now wearing the king's crown. He bows to him mockingly.

"Martin," The king mutters, glaring at him.

He turns to the queen, "And, Queen Tara, to bad you won't be with us for  very long," he tells her.

He pulls a sword out of one his men's hands and put it up against the queen's neck. "Bow to me," he shouts at King Tom.

"Never," he replies.

The sword gets deeper and blood starts trickling down her neck. "I'm only going to say this one more time. Bow to me."

The king bows and the man throws the sword aside. Then he leans down breaks her neck and kills her.

"No!" King Tom shouts. He runs to her and holds her in his arms.

After a while Martin says, "Take him away." And the king lets them drag him off but he never takes his eyes off his wife until they turn a corner and he couldn't see her anymore.

"Take her away so I never have to see her face again." Martin says. "Now, tomorrow we will put step two into action."

~~~~~~~~
The next day they go down to the dungeon to see the king. They find him cowering in the corner.
"King Tom, well, Tom, I should probably say since you're not the king anymore," Martin says, "I did want to tell you that your children will be spared."
After that the king stopped cowering and had a little bit more life in him.
That night they go to the dungeon and give him dinner.
"The new king wanted me to tell you that your execution is tomorrow at nine."
King Tom nods, and in the morning at eight fifty-five, he walks out proudly with his escorts.
When they enter the execution room they force him to his knees.
"Oh, yesterday I told you that your children will be spared," says Martin,   "but I forgot to tell your that they will rot in the dungeon and she will have a awful life. And while you're sitting there ready to die, just remember that it's all your fault."
King Tom looks down. He didn't even see the sword slice across his chest and didn't even know that that was his last breath he would ever take.
"So, what are we going to do with his daughter?"
"We shall make her believe that we are her uncle's. And, like I said, she shall live a rotten life."
