Chapter 9

Penny
Waking up to Gage was the best feeling in the world. Last night, I made love for the first time and it was a little painful but wonderful. I had to laugh, Gage's hair was sticking up all over and he was snoring with a bit of drool coming from his mouth. He snorted a little before opening his eyes and smiling at me. Then, his smile turned into a laugh, "Sweetheart, you look wild in the morning." I growled, "You don't look much better. I need coffee and a toothbrush." I grumbled as I rolled out of bed.

His laughter followed me into the tiny bathroom as I shut the door and looked in the mirror. I cringed, my hair was everywhere and I was not a pretty sight. I felt better after a shower but I didn't bring clothes into the bathroom, so I crept into the bedroom in nothing but a towel and almost swallowed my tongue, Gage was standing there in nothing but his boxers and dang, he is sexy.He turned and smiled," Well, you look better. You would look even better without that towel." He strode over to me and it was another hour before either of us got coffee and breakfast.

Six months of us dating and things are going great, in fact, Gage asked me to move in with him last night. So, here I am, packing up my tiny apartment. The guys are coming over in a few minutes to help me move. Most of my boxes are pictures and Gage has told me that I can put them anywhere that I want in his place. I'm nervous about living with him, but he has been spending most nights here anyways and his apartment is bigger, so it makes sense.

The guys bust through the door, laughing and joking. Gage smiles, "Hey there, Sweet thang." He sweeps me into his arms and kisses me. The other guys whoop. I rolled my eyes, "Come on, heathens. There's work to do." For the rest of the afternoon, we move my stuff into the most beautiful apartment I had ever seen. We all ate dinner there, Chinese take out, and laughed about stupid things. Soon, everyone left and it was just Gage and me. He looked at me with heat in his eyes, "I can't wait to have you in my bed." He scooped me up in his arms and carried me to his room, our room, and showed me just how much he loved me.

I had been living there for a couple of days when Monday rolled around and I was back at work, sorting through Duke's meeting for the next week. Jane brought me a fresh coffee,"Thank you, you are a life saver. I have been pouring over these meetings and he is so booked for this week." She nodded and sat across from me. " I know, it's a big deal that the Spaniard is in town." I furrowed my brows, "Who?" She laughed, "Antonio Rojas is a Spanish investor that is good friends with Duke. They have known each other for many years. He was in their wedding." I nodded in understanding.

As I brought my coffee to my lips, the smell hit my nose and I threw up in my trash can. Jane was next to me, holding my hair and rubbing my back. "Oh, sweet girl. Had I known you were pregnant, I wouldn't have brought you coffee." I gasped and looked her. "What!?!" She laughed,"You didn't know, that's priceless. Ok, let's get you into the doctor right away and make sure."

My heart dropped, "Gage, what if he doesn't want a baby right now or what if he thinks I did this on purpose to trap him?" I started to cry and Jane hugged me, "That boy loves you and will be thrilled." That is how Duke found us, me crying and Jane hugging me.
"Uh, is everything ok?" Duke asked, rubbing his neck. Jane nodded, "Penny is sick and I am going to take her to the doctor. I will be back in about an hour." She told him and he began to panic. "Oh God, Penny are you ok? Should I call Gage?" Jane grabbed his shoulders, "Breathe, she has a stomach bug, she can call Gage after she goes to the doctor, ok?" He nodded and she lead me out of the office and into a cab. She called the doctor on the way and within fifteen minutes, I was sitting in his office and he was running tests.

Dr. Samson was about fifty, short, round, and pleasant. "Ok, Penny. You are definitely pregnant and by your last period, about ten weeks along. You will need to eat healthy and take your vitamins. I need to see you about once a month." I thanked the doctor and made my next appointment. Jane and I took the cab to our apartment and Jane went back to the office.
I paced the apartment, waiting for Gage to get home. All kinds of possible reactions were spinning in my mind. I heard the elevator ding and I knew he was home. As he entered the living room his eyes met mine and I started to cry. He quickly crossed the room and cradled me in his arms.

"Sweetheart, tell me what's wrong?" He cooed. I pulled back and looked at his handsome face, "I didn't mean for it to happen, I swear it." His brows furrowed, "Whatever it is, we can fix it. Nothing is so bad that you need to sniffle", "I'm pregnant." He searched my eyes and then promptly passed out. Well, that escalated quickly.
