Young Mages

The First Day

CHAPTER 2:

3rd Person POV

When Romeo and Wendy finally arrived, they were out of breath and seeking air, from running 30 minutes straight. They had arrived at a huge complex that seemed like it went on forever.

A strange, but polite man had walked up to them. "Are you two here for the Mage School?" Romeo and Wendy nodded in response. "Well, you're a little late but orientation is still going on." He kindly walked them into a giant room, entirely full of aspiring mages. Romeo and Wendy took their seats.

Romeo's POV

I felt really bad about being late. We sat during orientation for about an hour long, but I could barely hear anything. I had a feeling Wendy's enhanced Dragon hearing kicked in, because she attentively listened. After orientation, they started to separate all of us into classes. Wendy and I stepped into a massive classroom, along with the classmates who were placed with us. I looked around observantly, and noticed that we were separated by what time we all arrived. A sweat dropped from my forehead when I realized we were placed into a classroom full of the tardy.

Wendy's POV

I was glad to be placed in the same class as Romeo, but we were in a class full of the more wild and mischievous young mages. I looked around for a friend to make, but sadly, they were mostly all boys. Then, I saw a girl with light blonde hair.

I walked up to her, "Hi! I'm Wendy! I'm a drago—".

She interrupted me with a, "Hmmph," and walked away. I let out a long sigh, and realized I wasn't with Romeo anymore. I looked around tentatively hoping to see the Fire Mage, but all I saw was a boy with Raven hair with blue tints, staring at me with his soft grey eyes. I looked away quickly, hiding the blush creeping up to my cheeks. When I turned back to see if he was still staring, he was gone. I let out a relieving sigh.

"Hi!" the boy said behind me. I let out a squeal. "Oh sorry," he apologized, "Didn't mean to startle you."

"Oh," I replied, "It’s fine." I turned around to walk away, but I stopped in my tracks when he started to speak.

"My names is Kaito Mizushima. I am a Water Mage." The boy— I mean, Kaito, grinned at me. He held his hand in front of him, I took it, "Hi I'm Wendy Marvell. I am Fairy Tail's Sky Dragon Slayer." When I finished my sentence, he released his grip from the hand shake and widened his eyes. I stepped back nervously, hoping I didn't just make an enemy. Then he waved his hand, as if gesturing for somebody to come. Then, before my eyes, two more boys were present.

"These are my friends!" Kaito said.

A boy with hair of a soft green and hazel eyes stepped forward. "Hi, my name is Riku Hayashi, and I am an Earth Mage." He spoke with such a poetic rhythm to his words. Then quickly, he shuffled back behind Kaito.

Then, I felt an arm sit upon my shoulders. "Don't mind him, he's more of a silent type." A boy with light orange hair and brown eyes was awfully close to me. "Hi," he spoke, “My name is Ryuu Tachibana and I am a Fire Mage." He started to smirk, then I felt someone tug me over to the side, it was Kaito.

"Don't mind him," Kaito said, "Riku may be a silent type, but this one," glancing to Ryuu, "is what you would call, a flirt." I laughed at the remark

"Hi!" I greeted, "My name is Wendy Marvell. I am Fairy Tail's Sky Dragon Slayer. I hope we all can be friends!" I smiled.

"Whoa!" Ryuu swooned, "So you're cute and a Dragon Slayer?" Kaito hit Ryuu on the head. "Oww!" Ryuu complained, "What was that for?" But, the answer to that went without saying.

"So," Riku interrupted, "You're part of a guild?"

"Yeah!" I replied, "Fairy Tail is amazing! I'll be participating in the Grand Magic Games on their behalf."

"Wow! So, you must be strong! We have to fight one day!" Kaito boldly grinned. I smiled back, happy that I had made some new friends.

Romeo's POV

I aimlessly strolled around our class, but then I realized I had lost Wendy. I looked around worryingly, but then the sight I saw made my blood boil. She was surrounded by 3 boys, and they laughed, smiled, and spoke. I was a little envious at the sight, considering I've known Wendy this whole time, but we can barely carry out a conversation.

"All right class, sorry for the delay, I had brief meeting to attend." A tall muscular man walked into the room. "Alright rookies, take your seats." He gestured in the direction to go. I caught sight of Wendy. I managed to shimmy through the crowd, and got a seat next to her, along with her new escorts.

"There you are Romeo!" Wendy grinned at me. I smiled back.

"Alright, let's get started! My name is Hisashi, you're Mage teacher for the next month. I control gravity magic. Now that's settled, each of you stand up, and introduce yourselves." All the students, including me, introduced ourselves. Most of them controlled elements, or requipped, but only one was a dragon slayer, that was Wendy.

"Okay," Hisashi started to say, “I want to see what you all are capable of. I will give you 20 minutes to find a pair, to partner up with. Okay, begin!" And with that, Hisashi stepped out of the room. I turned around to ask Wendy to be my partner, but a swarm had already surrounded her.

3rd Person POV

The teacher was currently out of the room while everyone proceeded to make a tag team.

Romeo was able to make his way to Wendy and managed to blurt out the words, "Wendy, want to team up?"

"Sorry she—" Kaito was interrupted by the talking of Wendy.

"Sorry Romeo. Kaito had already asked me." Wendy gave Romeo an uneasy smile.

"Don't worry about it boy," Ryuu put his arm around Romeo, "We can be partners, being upstaged by Kaito like that."

Romeo tugged Ryuu's arm off, "Okay, we can be partners." And with that, Romeo walked off with Ryuu and Wendy walked off with Kaito.

20 minutes later...

"Okay, hopefully all of you were able to pick your teams." Hisashi stated. The room consisted of teamed up mages. "Your matches have been pinned up on the board over there." Hisashi pointed to the other side of the room. All the young mages rushed over to the over side, and each team positioned to their assigned battlefield.
