A M E T H Y S T

When the day is finally over, I sigh in happiness and relief, my body tired and my brain fried like donuts. I clock out and say goodbye to Miranda as she leaves a spare lockup key and leaves for the day.

I bite my lip while glancing out, toward the ocean, noticing how dark it is getting. I hope I don't get lost on my way toward Seth's. Or maybe I should go to my house instead? I dunno, what if he doesn't wanna see me?

What am I talking about? He's just a guy, I need to stop. Seriously what is my deal?

I shake my head from thoughts and turn off the coffee maker that has been used nonstop all day between me and Miranda. After grabbing my bag and putting up the apron uniform, I snatch the spare key to the shop and lock up, after putting my shoes back on of course.

Miranda took us both down to the seashore for lunch, where she brought some sandwiches and bottled tea from the store. We ate and joked around for a bit before we both eventually had to go back to work.

After locking the door, I spin around and freeze, catching sight of a shirtless Seth, who is lightly smiling at me. I smile back, a little uneasy. He waves me toward him, and I shake my head before doing so.

When I get to his side, he begins to walk in the direction of his house, so I assume he will be forcing me to stay at his place for tonight, and probably for a while too.

"How was your first day?" He asks, his voice sweet and soft, but also raspy and kinda gravelly sounding, like he just woke up or something. I smile at his effort to start a conversation and refrain from commenting on it.

"It was nice, tiring- but fun. How was your day?" I meekly respond, tilting my head up to look up at him, as he does to look down at me. He smiles, a closed mouth, heart warming, gentle smile.

"It was good, very good."

After that we stay in silence, while he leads me back to his home. When we get there, he unlocks his door and lets me inside first. I awkwardly follow him up the stairs, and into the room we shared the night before.

"Um," I hum, while taking my shoes off and putting my stuff down, "a guy that kinda looks like you stopped in the store today, and asked if I knew you. Do you know him?"

Seth tenses, and glances over his shoulder at me, before proceeding to take his shorts off.

"If he had my tattoo, then probably." He answers stiffly, in a 'conversation over, period' tone.

I sigh and nod to myself, unbuttoning my shorts and sliding them off of my legs, oddly comfortable with doing so under the eyes of Seth, who stops what he is doing to stop and stare.

"W-" he clears his throat, "What are you doing?"

I turn to look at him before rolling my eyes and throwing my shirt over my head, and going to the dresser in front of the bed. I open one of the drawers and grab a random shirt, that smells like Seth, and pull it over my head.

"Getting dressed. Are you sleeping in here again?"

"Why are you being so cooperative?" He fires back, squinting his eyes suspiciously at me.

I stop in my movements, my eyes locked onto the ground while I start to question myself on why I am really so calm about all of this. Like come on, this is insane, and I am totally fine with it. What is wrong with me?

"Well I'm your mate aren't I? I should get used to all of this." I mumble instead, before continuing to walk to the bed and slip under the warm covers. Seth huffs before closing our door and the bathroom door, and turning the lights off.

Soon after the lights go out, I feel the covers lift and his weight sink the bed down. He rolls over toward me and immediately wraps his strong arm around the curve of my waist, pulling me flush against his bare chest.

I take a deep breath before letting myself smile. I don't know why I'm smiling, I guess because when I ran away the only thing I really wanted was a change, and I got more than that. I got a really sweet, sexy guy, who can shift into a fucking wolf.

And I can't wait to get to know him.

"I can feel you smiling. Go to bed." He growls, his breath tickling the shell of my ear. I blush and roll my eyes.

"You go to bed."
