-Swimming Fool-
jihoon should not have agreed to chan's request. what was supposed to be a nice day-off with junhui and hogging the small telly to himself turned out to be disastrous. firstly, he was already late for work because he dropped by to visit soonyoung, where he unknowingly spent an hour at.
secondly, he turned up at the office drenched in sweat and also in the rain that came upon in just when he was five minutes away from his workplace.
lastly, jihoon is now struggling with a cold and filling up the admin papers in his desk.
he could definitely sense a fever creeping up to him and while he once again brought the tip of his pen to sign another document, seungcheol entered the office, holding bags of fried chicken.
what a horrible day.
=
jihoon had barely made it out of the office without informing chan or seungcheol about how unwell he is and as he clambered down the stairs of the office building, he winced at the impending headache that decided to pay him a visit.
it was already 2am and the streets were dimly-lit with the streetlamps that still could miraculously function after years of usage. trudging towards the direction of his humble abode, jihoon's vision suddenly dimmed and when the male hurriedly dug through his pocket to call junhui, he fell onto the ground.
=
"jihoon?" soonyoung's voice came a few moments later, a strong pair of arms lifting jihoon's unconscious body and trying to shake the shorter male awake.
as he did so, soonyoung felt the heat from the other's forehead and he heaved a worried sigh.
=
pulling out his secret stash of medicine from his bedroom, soonyoung took out the box of pills and readied a cup of water before shaking jihoon awake. as the male slowly woke up from his slumber, he gave soonyoung a weak gaze before swallowing the pill and water and collapsing back onto soonyoung's bed.
tucking jihoon tighter into his blankets, soonyoung left the room with a tired grin resting on his lips.
=
"you finally called?" his obnoxious voice tore through the male's wall of courage as soonyoung took a deep breath before blurting out.
"hope you have fun driving that car of yours that was bought with my money," snarling through his words, soonyoung immediately hung up before the receiver could say anything.
that event happened the night jihoon was working himself off in the office and soonyoung had just left work for the day.
trudging through the city with heavy footsteps, soonyoung's eyes followed the fading presence of passer-bys on the street.
it was similarly also the day that almost became soonyoung's last day until he found jihoon collapsed on the ground in the middle of nowhere.
jihoon had once again saved his life.
=
waking up to a throbbing head with a phone vibrating non-stop, jihoon groaned while grabbing the device to shut it up. before he could throw the phone back on the tabletop, the male noticed that junhui had 50 missed calls and he was still calling him now.
accepting the frantic call, jihoon timidly cradled the phone between his ear and hand, ready for the loud exclaim from his roommate.
"WHERE ARE YOU?" junhui, on the other line, had expectedly hollered through the speaker, causing jihoon to wince in the progress.
"uh i got super sick yesterday, collapsed on the roadsi-" jihoon began, masking his words to make it sound deadly serious that he couldn't have made a call sooner.
as jihoon had worriedly voiced out the words in hope that junhui could forgo the entire not calling him situation already, junhui once again yelled loudly and asked whether jihoon was fine.
after a few minutes of reassuring his poor friend, jihoon sent a quick text to seungcheol about taking the day off before snuggling deeper into the warm blankets.
going through the list of his mother's recipe book, soonyoung stopped at the soups section. soonyoung really was a dummy in cooking so as he questionably threw ingredients into the pot and brewed up a meal, he hoped that the soup would turn out edible.
=
obnoxiously blowing hard on the liquid, soonyoung manoeuvred the spoon over to jihoon's lips before letting the male gulp down the hot tasteless soup.
jihoon couldn't really complain either since he wasn't a genius in cooking too. so as he quietly drank the "soup" that tasted like water, he grunted silently when he was finally done with the last spoonful.
swallowing the pill he received from soonyoung, jihoon tucked himself deeper into the duvet and fell back asleep.
=
soonyoung was really considering his life decisions at the moment. he's now car-less, thanks to his ex who had stolen the car.
he's also unbothered with filing a lawsuit because that would cost thousands and soonyoung would rather claim the car back without involving the law.
death had always been the first option soonyoung had desperately tried to suppress for ages now. he was tempted by the fact that every problem would be gone when he leaves this place.
maybes it'll be better up there. however, someone is making him reconsider his options.
