CHAPTER 21
"WHEN THE TWO MONTHS END YOU'RE GONNA DO WHAT CASEY DID TO HIM."*Sylvia*
It's been about a week since I last spoke to Dylan. I've been avoiding him since we've kissed because I have no clue how to approach him. What was I supposed say?
Hey that kiss we shared was great but I don't want to kiss you anymore because I don't want to lead you on any further.
Yeah no.
I left right after because I couldn't face him but I did think about it all night though. I didn't get a wink of sleep at all. It's proven from the bags beneath my eyes that have been hidden with concealer.
I've gone back to my old clothing which consisted of a pink dress with a pair of white Toms. I'm not ready to go back to heels yet. It scared me how much he's been changing me. I even forgot my own friends for Christ's sake! Well if you could call them that.
"Hey Sylvia how's it going with you-know-who?" Donna ask me with a wink.
"It's going good but-" Donna cuts me off by standing in front of me with her hands on my shoulder. She was a couple inches taller than me due to her heels.
"Nope! No buts. When the two months end you're gonna do what Casey did to him before; break up with him."
She had to bring Casey into this. She and Lilly were always closer to her than me even though I'm the one who made them both popular.
"Whatever Donna I'll do it."
I push her aside and walk away from her but speak of the devil.
"Hi Sylvia," I turn to my side and see Dylan leaning against the wall beside me. Did he hear anything? I hope not.
"Oh hey Dylan how's it going?" I asked nonchalantly. He then grabs my arm and pulls me away from were I last stood and then to the exit doors. "We need to talk." I'm so screwed. He overheard us talking and now he's gonna murder me.
We both landed at the outside picnic table which some people who don't want to eat inside use, which is not many.
"What do we need to talk about?" He glances up at me, "We need to talk about what happened last week." Oh, last week.
"What point of last week?"
"The kissing part."
That's what I thought. Oh gosh this is just what I was avoiding. Well at least he didn't overhear anything.
"Oh."
"Yeah, did I do anything wrong. If you weren't ready I'm sorry."
I'm quick to respond, "No you don't do anything I just... thought it was a bit to soon." Relief washer over his features. "That made me feel a lot better." Well at least that's out of the way. Then he says the unexpected.
"Are you busy after school?"
"Um.. no."
"Okay meet me at my house at 4:00," that's a hour after school ended.
"Okay."
"And park in front of the house not in the driveway."
"Okay."
"See ya later Sylvia," he waved bye to me before entering back into the school. Well looks like I got plans after school. That didn't go half as bad as I thought it would go. I heard the warning bell ring inside and get up. Now the waiting begins.
•••
I was in my car driving to Dylan's house. It was about an hour after school ended and I was glad. The wait was killing me, I don't like surprises. Today we got our papers back from Mr. Dave. It was our grading sheet from the plant project we had to do, well he had to do since he didn't want my help. We got a 98%, he made a couple grammar errors on the essay.
I pull up to his house and park on the street like he asked me too. I get out of my car and figured out why. Tiny dots that were drawn from chalk was scattered along his huge driveway. Sarah was off to the side coloring with chalk while Dylan was drawing a couple more dots with blue chalk. He finished and stood up and noticed I was standing at the edge of his driveway. He wiped away at his forehead causing blue chalk to smear across it.
I walked up to him avoiding blue chalk and brought my hand to his forehead and wiped away the chalk. "So Sylvia when was the last time you played connect the dots?" Unusual question. "Not for a while why?" He smirked at me, "well you're about to play again today. " He handed me the blue chalk and guide me over to the dot labeled '1'. I didn't even realize they were labeled. I got down on my knees and slowly started to connect the dots. I was lucky that I decided to change into a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. Dylan just stood and watched me connect them, and was it weird that I was having fun.
Around ten minutes later I was finished. I slowly stood up and read what the dots said.
"Will you go on a date with me?"
I looked up at Dylan and give him a wide grin, "Yes!" I walked over to him and gave him a hug.
"Thank you but you didn't have to do this. You could've just asked me." Sarah came bouncing over to me. "I thought it was sweet Dylan did it. I helped too, right Dyl?" Dylan gave his sister a smile, "Yep you did Sare, and you did a great job."
"So when is this date gonna be?"
"The end of this month, that gives me all the time that I need for it."
The end if this month, that's the time I have to break it off with him. "Okay. Sounds great Dylan, I can't wait. But I gotta go I gave to be back home at a certain time." He gives me a nod and him and Sarah wave bye to me as I climb back into my car and start driving.
I sure have been lying a lot lately.
