Making an Exception

"I still can't believe I'm talking to you again, Ollie. It has been so long!" Harry sighed as we walked out of the convenience store into the chilly London night.

"I always knew we'd see each other again. But I wasn't really expecting tonight." I held up the bag of toothpaste and other odd necessities I had just bought.

"Do you want to get a coffee sometime. I'm free tomorrow? For a change." Harry gave a little chuckle, looking down at his cell phone.

Panic hit me. He had a girlfriend now. What would happen if it were to get out?

"Uh, I don't know..."

"Oh come on! We really need to catch up!" He complained to me. I gave him a little shrug.

"Well, Harry. Things are kind of different now." He pursed his lips as I spoke.

"You mean Emily?"

I gave him a nod, only seeming to disappoint him.

"Ollie, I promise, Emily won't mind. She's in New York visiting family anyways! I'll tell her you are just a family friend. But if she does have a problem, then I'll have to take the consequences, this is important to me." Just the fact that Harry was willing to get in trouble for me, made my heart melt.

"Blimey, I can't turn that down! When and where?" I pulled my phone from my pocket swiftly, prepared to type in a reminder.

"How about noon, Yorkshire Cafe?" As I typed in the reminder, it suddenly occured to me that it was midnight.

"Okay! I have to go now. But I can't wait to see you again!" I grinned largely at him. He stepped forward and gave me another hug. But this time, as we parted, Harry gave me a short peck on the lips.

I hadn't felt his soft lips on mine for a while. It just reminded me of how much I missed it.

I began walking away, and Harry began in the opposite direction.

"Bye Ollie!" He hollered from behind me.

I turned around briefly and waved. "Bye Hazza!" I shouted in reply. Quickly turning around and walking faster. That is what I used to call Harry when we dated.

I guess it kind of just slipped out.

I didn't dare look back. I was not prepared to see his reaction.

All that was on my mind was tomorrow. Tomorrow at noon, in the Yorkshire Cafe.
