Kaycee is sitting on her bed, in her horribly bright pink bedroom with her best friend Makayla. They've just gotten back from the baseball park, and they're both exhausted from the game and are just laying around.
"So, are you coming to Matthew's party tonight?" Makayla asks her.
"Probably not, it's Sunday tomorrow. You know I need to be up early to go fishing with my dad on Sunday's," Kaycee replies. Her dad's job has him traveling across the country. But for as long as she can remember he's always been home on Sundays. Sundays are their special days, they always go out to their "lucky fishing spot" and update each other on everything that happened over the past week.
"You're the only high school senior I know who would skip a party to go fishing with their dad. Come on! It's supposed to be the biggest party of the year, do you really want to miss that? You don't even have to drink, just come for the sake of not missing out"
After spending a few moments deep in thought Kaycee says: "Alright, you've convinced me. I'll see if my mom will let me take a car."
She climbs down the stairs and went to find her mom in the kitchen.
"Hey mom," she said, "Think I could take the car out to Matt's tonight? It's supposedly going to be the biggest party of the year"
"You're not planning on drinking?" she asks in response.
Kaycee shakes her head "No, I don't want to be hungover for mine and dad's day tomorrow."
"Ok. That's fine then. But if you do decide you want to start drinking call me. I'd rather have you wake me up than have you attempt to drive drunk," says her mom.
Kaycee hugs her mom in thanks, and takes off up the stairs to share the good news with Makayla.
