When Kaycee awoke, she is in a hospital bed and her mom is weeping beside her, her dad attempting to comfort her. He was the first to notice she was awake.

"Kaycee! Good morning honey, how're you feeling?" he asks

"I'm okay, what happened?" she asked, "and I have to go to the bathroom actually, can you help me up? My legs must be numb from laying down so long."

"Maybe we should just wait for the doctor Kaycee ok?"

As if he had heard her dad, the doctor walks in right on cue.

"Oh, great you're awake!" he said, then turns to her parents and asks, "have you told her yet?" to which they shook their heads.

"We were waiting for you doctor." Her father said.

"Wait. Tell me what? What's going on?" Kaycee jumped in, suddenly afraid to know the answers to her question.

"Kaycee," her father started, "the night of the party, you got into an accident."

"How? I wasn't drinking I promise!" she exclaimed.

"We know honey, but just because you weren't doesn't mean that everyone else was smart enough to make that decision. The other driver was under the influence, they hit your car and you got hurt pretty bad."

The realization dawned on Kaycee, she gently touched her leg, nothing. She begun tearing up. She punched her leg, still nothing. She was sobbing now and continued to hit her legs, her punches progressively getting harder until her dad pulls her hands away from her legs and pulls her in for a tight hug.

"It'll be ok Kaycee, it'll all be okay."
