I enter the classroom and see my friend Austin sitting in his seat. He looks at me and smiles widely. I grin and give him a high five as I walk by and continue to my seat, attempting to avoid eye contact with anyone else in the classroom. I only know Austin, and only because we got paired together for a project, and I have come to the conclusion that we are the only non-aliens in the room. Then again, look who’s talking.
I sit down in my seat just as the bell rings. Class moves forward and I don’t notice the time going by until the bell rings, signaling passing period. I look at the clock but have no need to. 9:04am is when we get out of our first period. I grab my bag and my new vocab list for German and head toward Sam, who is already waiting for me at her locker. I give her a hug and we walk downstairs. I walk her to her Biology class and wait for her to drop off her stuff. As I’m waiting, I see my friend John in the classroom across the hall. I walk into the classroom and sit on his lap. He does nothing to move me, he just leans to the side and continues playing his computer game. I wiggle around and he pauses his game and hugs me tightly.
“Hey Jen,” he says as he lets me go. “What are you doing on my lap?”
“I wanted your attention so I took every measure possible to get it,” I reply in my spoiled brat impersonator voice. He smirks and rolls his eyes, using his head to make it dramatic. I smile and plant a kiss on his cheek, and he blushes slightly, glancing around the room to see if anyone noticed. No one but our friend Alex did. She hopped off her desk and scurried over to us quickly. She sat down in the chair next to ours and smiles mischievously. Before she could get a word out I interrupted her.
“For the MILLIONTH time,” I groan, emphasizing the millionth. “John and I are NOT going out.”
“Okay, okay,” she spoke. “But remember, I’m watching you two.”
“Stalker much?” John retorts and we all laugh. I see Sam in the hallway urging me to come and I stand up and say goodbye to my friends. I walk to Sam and we begin to walk toward my History class.
“So,” Sam begins.
“No, I already had this one sided conversation with Alex. John and I aren’t together,” I say to her before she can finish asking her question.
She looks at me and smiles. “You have a crush on him, don’t you?!” she exclaims in the crowded hallway.
“No. You seem to keep forgetting that I have a boyfriend,” I tell her. She rolls her eyes along with her head for a dramatic effect. I smile and walk into my classroom. Sometimes I think I would have a crush on John if I wasn’t with my boyfriend. He’s handsome and nerdy, just the way I like them. He is tall, maybe two to three inches taller than I am. He has short scruffy blonde hair that is a mess. He has glasses and claims to hate them, and he has blue eyes. He has a large nose that is slightly hooked at the end and long thin lips that spread over his braces. He wears baggy clothing most of the time and he always has some sort of hat on. He spends most of his time on his computer and he never pays any attention in class. He always plays Minecraft or something else.
I drop off my stuff and walk out of the classroom, trying to avoid eye-contact with Shaun. Shaun was my first friend at my new school and we got along well, till he made our friendship awkward by asking me out. I had to tell him that I already had a boyfriend and that no, I wasn’t going to break up with him for Shaun. Then he wouldn’t talk to me for the next week. After he got over being rejected, he wanted to let bygones be bygones and just be friends. I agreed and the next thing you know, he’s following me everywhere, wanting my attention all the time and not caring who I’m with or talking to as long as I was talking to him. Eventually I just gave up and ignored him. He never seemed to get the message and kept following me. He started pretending to cut himself cause he knew I was sensitive to that. I treated him like a baby till John told me he was using his pencil to create marks on his arms. I ignored him till he finally got the message and left me alone. After a while I felt bad, so I began talking to him again and he took this as an invitation to become my stalker again. Now I’m trying to ignore him again.
