We raced down the hall towards our fathers study, the opposite direction that we had been headed a moment ago. A part of me was yelling that this was stupid, dangerous, and reckless and that I should grab Mira and run the other way to safety but that would be cowardly and whatever else I might be,Laurel Draven was not a coward. So I repressed the traitorous urges and kept going. When we were nearly there I stopped Mira.

"Ok listen up,if we're going to get through this alive we have to play our cards right,"I whispered firmly in a hushed voice."Now we need to be stealthy if we're going to make it through this alive,it's our only chance."

"Right,"She replied determined and before we started moving again I put my index finger to my lips as a reminder to keep quiet.  Together,we crept down the hallway towards the nearing study door. Soon we stood directly in front of the door and I pulled it open a crack and peered in covertly. Inside were four lethal looking Strigoi. All of them wore matching black cloaks and masquerade looking masks but I could still see their chalky white skin and unnatural red irises. Luckily, none of them noticed me,lurking on the other door, but the reason for their lack of vigelence was not so lucky. Sitting at his desk was our father.

"Where are they!"One of the Strigoi demanded angrily slamming her fists on the desk."I know the two prophesied ones are your daughters, you can't protect them forever you know!" At these  words I gasped losing my balance where I was crouched by the door and teetered forwards before crashing through the door and landing in a heap next to Mira.

"Girls what are you doing!"My father shouted surprised and the angry Strigoi spun around to face us.        "How nice of you two to join us."The Strigoi smirked cruely and I shivered just from her gaze."Now that you two are here we no longer have a use for your father."And with that she walked right over to dad and effortlessly snapped his neck.        "No!"Mira shrieked lunging at the woman only to be restrained by another Strigoi. I just stared at dad in shock as one of the Strigoi wrapped his arms around mine like steel girders. He couldn't be dead, this was all just a bad dream, and in a moment Mira would be waking me up from where I had fallen asleep reading again. But as time wore on nothing happened and the only sound was the triumphant chuckles of the Strigoi and Mira's sobbing I knew this was not a dream. As I realized this feelings of anger and hatred coiled up in the pit of my stomach, they dared to invade my home and now I was gonna make them pay. Suddenly my hands grew hot and the Strigoi holding me screamed.

"Fire!"He yelled jumping away from me and when I spun around to see him waving his arm which was indeed on fire. All of them looked at me in sock and suddenly I grinned. I ran at the Strigoi summoning all the resentment and hatred I felt towards them into the palms of my hands and anywhere I touched them they burst into flame. Eventually I felt a feather light touch on my arm and when I turned around I realized it was Mira.

"It's over."She told me in a calming voice and I nodded letting all my dark feelings die down. Instantly I felt exhausted, like I had just run a marathon and I fell to the floor struggling to stay awake.        "So tired."I murmured  as my vision blurred and began to darken then finally blacken into oblivion.
