"It wasn't a great night" I say over the phone to my best friend, Aimee.
"Well I think you had a great time" she pauses for a second, then continues to speak, "And if you didn't, tell me why." Oh Aimee, I will tell you why, but I am giving you the shortened version. As for the people reading this, you get the long version. "Oh my gosh Sara I don't know what to say to that, uh, I have to go" Aimee said after I told her the story, then, hung up. Well, obviously no one believes me, so that is just great.
You are probably wondering what the heck happened and where. Well, it was Tuesday night at the city carnival. You know, the one with all the freaky rides held up by a few nails, and have all the greasy food that you insist on having, even though you don't like it. That carnival.
Anyway, a lot happened that night. Let's begin with my arrival. Aimee was supposed to take me to the carnival, but something came up where I had to get another ride. Great, just great I thought to myself. I could not find another ride anywhere, because all my other friends were out of town that week, because that's my luck right there. I then decided to just walk there. The park was only two miles away, and I still had enough time. I needed the exercise, anyway.
About a mile and a half in, my walk got worse. To my right, I saw a dark blue crv. It was Aimee. Great, I thought. At the time, I did not know how to react. Should I say hi? Should I turn my head?. No, I did neither. Instead, I decided to just blankly stare at the car and try and see who all was in it. It was Aimee, her twin sister, Maddie, and Evan, Maddie's boyfriend. There definitely would have been room for me, but whatever.
Five minutes later I am at the carnival, waiting for them. Somehow, I beat them. Maybe there is some traffic, I thought. No, they stopped at McDonalds. Well, they did not take me and then stop at McDonalds, and they do not get me anything. I am a vegetarian, but I could have had apple slices and a soft drink, but that offer never came up. " Hey Sara, ready to get your carnival on?" She asks me. I kind of stare at her food for a while, and then I look back up and nod my head.
After Evan and Maddie run off, Aimee and I go meet up with Aimee's boyfriend. By this point, you are probably wondering if I have a boyfriend. No, I do not. It is pretty sad, considering I am fifteen. Oh well, though. Anyway, when we finally find Matt, Aimee's boyfriend, we walk around for a bit. "Of course," Aimee says, "I knew this was going to happen. All he came here for was to ride rides with his friends while we stand off to the side. I feel like I'm just here to make him look good. It is so annoying." She was right.

The carnival almost came to what was like a routine. Matt and his friends would go to a ride, while Aimee and I stand off to the side with their stuff. After we got off, we give them their things, then we walk around. Matt puts his arm around Aimee, or holds her hand, occasionally going in for a kiss, while he talks to her and his friends. Not me, though. I just walked along awkwardly. Aimee and I eventually started getting mad, but we did not say anything about it. We then got food, and that was even weirder. Aimee and I just sat there with our water, while the boys ate their carnival meals. For example, chicken fingers with French fries and a Gatorade. They thought we were weird not eating, but we could not work up the appetite to eat.
When we finished, we almost went back to our normal routine, but Aimee spoke up. "Hey, Matt. Sara and I want to go walk around for a bit, okay? I will catch up with you later." She reluctantly asks. All Matt replies with is an okay and a hug, then we walk off. I was feeling a bit better for a bit. We even got two vanilla milkshakes, which we drank while walking around, catching up with each other. It was nice. Well, until we bumped into her boyfriend.
"Hey babe, is everything alright? Are you mad at me?" Matt asks, while gradually getting closer to her. She shook her head. "Well my friends and I are going to go ride this ride right here. Can you and your friend stay off to the side? We can meet up again afterwards." Matt asked, with a puppy face. Aimee then replies with just a subtle I guess, then the boys run off, and are back to their normal routine. Now I was mad. At the time neither of us were very happy. We both just sat on a bench, ranting to each other about how extremely awful this night is.
"Um, Aimee. How did we get back to doing this?" I ask. I was so mad. I could not take sitting there, doing absolutely nothing. I just sat there, watching all the people walk around. It stunk, it really did. Of course Aimee did not do anything about it, so we just sat there the whole night.

Eventually, we got away for a bit, but Matt kept popping up. They continued to get more and more upset with each other. Then our walking around was basically me just listening to Aimee rant off how angry and upset she was. I felt awful. I did not know what to do. She was about to cry, and I feel like it was my fault, even though it was not.It is then the end of the night and I find out that Aimee still wants a picture with Matt. My face was probably in such shock that I can not explain. She stands and talks to Matt for a bit. It comes to a point where Matt's friend comes over to me and asks if I want to go over to the soccer field and hang out. Not knowing what to say, I just nod my head, probably with some cheesy face. No one, not even Aimee knows that I kind of have feelings for Adam.
Adam and I walk down to the field, and we just both go straight to the goal, and sit inside it. This is it I thought. It is finally happening. I could not believe what was happening, I thought it was a dream. Hopefully this is what I want and expect.
