Damian and I finished eating then crawled back into our fort.

I layed down and opened up my phone, I had a couple texts, some from Lacey and Christian and one from my mom.

I haven't talked to my mom in a few days so I open her message first.

'Hey Bailey, something has come up and i am going to be gone for a couple more months. I will transfer some money into your account tonight.'

I replied, 'okay mom i miss you, how are you doing?'

'I'm fine but I have to go to a meeting goodbye.'

I quietly clicked my phone off and let out a sigh.

"You okay?" Damian said sitting up.

"I'm fine" i said sitting up and trying not to make eye contact with him because I'm terrible at lying.

I didn't want to rant to him about my mom that's gonna be gone for a couple weeks when his mom is literally struggling to live.

"B talk to me I know when you're lying and I know when something's wrong" he says placing his hand on my leg and rubbing it softly with his thumb.

"It's about my mom and I don't want to talk about my mom issues considering what's happening with yours. I'm fine really" I say giving him a hopefully assuring smile.

"I don't care, I know my mom is strong and is going to fight her hardest, she will be okay. I want you to know that you can always talk to me"

"She is so strong and she will get through this I promise." I said placing my hand on top of his.

"What'd your mom do?" he says

"Nothing really, she's just always gone for so long and she's been gone for almost a month and she just texted me and told me she isn't coming back for a couple more months and she's always too busy to talk I just miss her. But my problems are nothing compared to what you're going through so I'll shut up now."

"B stop, I notice how much you miss her and I wish she would notice too. Don't think you can't talk to me because you think your problems are any lesser than mine. I want to be here for you, you're my best friend and you will always have me when you feel alone or need to talk."

I laid my head on his chest and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer to him.

"thank you dameeen" I said looking up into his eyes

he smiled and kissed me on the forehead.

After a while of laying in silence I fell asleep. I think i might really like this kid.

I woke up at around 8 o'clock and felt Damian's arms still around me, i looked up at him and smiled.

I pulled out my phone and checked my messages.

Christian had texted me a couple of times last night.
