"Where is this girl na ehn?, four hours already na, God pls oh, phone sef she no carry, this girl will not kill me oo".
Mama Tayo incessantly talked to herself, pacing back and forth, only stopping a few seconds to put her hands on her head. Stretching her neck and head as far as it would go to see if Tayo was coming.
" shebi it's just to pay money in ehn? Eh, this girl will not just kill me at all".
By now mama Tayo's mind couldn't be at peace, for restlessness had taken its full course. She had become antsy. Different thoughts strolled down the corridor of her mind.
"What if she had been kidnapped", she thought, why if she had misplaced the money". Every thought brought shivers down mama Tayo's body.
" Tayo you will not kill me, o le pa mi lai lai, where have you been ehn? Since.. what happened?".
Mama tayo had started saying, seeing her daughter from afar. Tayo walked closer and stood transfixed on a spot, a little far away from her mother for fear of receiving a deafening slap when her mother hears her story. Her tears betrayed her and they slide down her face like little rocks rolling down the mountain.
"Tayo, what happened, wetin happen na, talk na, why are u crying" mama tayo's voice had started gaining volume as fear crept ryt inside her and her voice. Tears started to form in her eyes too for she feared tayo had a dreadful news to relay. Tayo stood like a statue and allowed only her tears and mouth the access to move.
"Mummy, I don't know oo, I don't know how it happened".
" how did what happen ehn? talk na"
Tayo narrated her story once again fidgeting, tears and the famous catarrh peripatetic on her face.
"" yeeehhh" mama tayo screamed
"This gall has killed me, as if I know, as if I know oooooo, shebi I would have gone to that bank myself" mama tayo said all at once in tears.
It became a battle of tears as it seemed tayo and her mother were by now competing in the game of who cried best.
"Why are you so dumb, how will someone collect your money, he told you to go up and u went, what are you doing up ehnn? Ahhh, where will I start from, am finished, your father will kill me, baba e ma pa mi, mo Ku,,ahhh".
