I woke up to a warm embrace of arms wrapped around me tightly and a hand touching my thigh. I layed there for a few minutes. I heard Finn inhale deeply. He was awake. His grip tighted slightly. I couldnt help but smile a little. He loosened his grip and turned over. He fell out of bed and i shot up. He put his hand to his head and apologized for waking him up. "Are you alright?" I asked half dazed half full alert.
"Sorry, yeah... im fine. Thanks," he replied just as quietly as he had to the mayor. I got out of bed and took his advice on clothing. I tied the arms around my waist. Thankfully we were given white tees under them so i wasnt exposed to the sun rays that beat me to death centuries ago. "How much more harmful has the sun gotten after all these years?" I was given a startled confised look by Finn. I hadn't realized i said that outloud. He replied with a soft "i wish i knew."
Alejandro and Judy were awake and knocking on our door. Finn got up from the ground and opened the door for them. They walked in and were carrying the duffle bags from yesterday.
Alejandro spoke up first. "We need more caps." Everyone nodded in agreement. We weren't too sure how the economy works in this world yet. We needed to stock up just in case.
We all walked down to the bar and asked for water. He gave us a bottled labeled 'dirty water'. I asked why it was labeled like that. He told us it was irradiated. He sold us purified water at a cost of 5 caps per bottle which he said was a discount. We gave him 40 caps for 8 bottles. We stored water in one duffle and caps in another. Having more than one duffle bag was getting handy.
Alejandro asked if there were food stores or restaurants nearby. We were directed to a place called Jenny's. We made our way down a couple flights of creaky metal stairs to get there.
When we walked in eyes were glued to us. We walked to the counter and asked for a menu. We were rold they only had noodles and squirrel bits on the menu. We got 4 bowls of noodles and 1 order of squirrel bits.
We sat down and waited a while. Finally our food came out. 4 bowls of bland noodles and nicely charred squirrel bits on a stick.
We started eating. We devoured the food and left only the plates and stick. "I went nuts for that squirrel," i said. Judy and Alejandro were too busy talking to hear what i said, but Finn, Finn chuckled louder than he spoke. This made my smile spread wider than the joker's.
Judy and Alejandro turned and stared amazed at how loudly Finn was laughing. They were wondering what was so funny. I denied anyhting happening. This was between me and Finn. Finn turned to me and smiled.
