"So," Rose said dragging out the 'o', "what's your name?"
Instead of answering he picked up his pace and ignored her.
"Hey," Rose said trying to catch up to his faster pace, "I'm talking to you."
He stopped and she collided into him, "You gonna keep annoying me or am I going to have to leave you?"
"No! I'm sorry I'm annoying you but I'm blindly following you and I don't have even the slightest clue as to who you are."
He looked her in the eye and said, "and that's my fault?"
Rose was taken aback, only just now realising what she was doing, naively following a person she didn't even know. It would seem she lost all sense of how to act around other people and that not everyone had good intentions.
"Uhm," She tried to change the subject, "so how much longer do you think 'till the government save the people left and rebuild what is damaged?"
"There isn't anyone coming to help us Rose."
"You can't so pessimistic."
"It's the end of the world, I think I have the right to be a pessimist."
"It's not the end of the world," She nervously laughed before she exhaled, "I still don't know your name."
"And I think it's going to stay that way." He said as he started walking again.
"At least can you tell me where we're going?"
...
We arrived at a boarded up house.
"Now whether or not you choose to stay here is up to you but in the morning I'm getting my stuff ready to leave."
"Where are you going?"
"I guess I'll see where the road takes me, I've been wandering from place to place so far."
"Are you looking for something or someone?"
There was a pause, "Yes." and then he walked to the right side of the house and started climbing.
"Wha- what the hell are you doing?"
"I'm going inside." He said nonchalantly and made it to the second story and swung himself into the open window, and so I followed his lead and attempted to climb the side of the house.
I reached the open window that he stood inside of and I attempted to pull myself in but at the last moment my foot slipped, my heart sped up and my stomach plunged so fast I felt sick. I felt a hand quickly shoot out like a snake striking its prey and grip onto my wrists.
I hung there for a few seconds, composing myself; steadying my breathing before I hoisted myself up whilst he still held onto one of my wrists, the other he let go of when I reached out for something to grab hold of so I could lift myself into the window.
"You okay?" He asked once my feet landed on the floor.
I let out a breathe, "Yeah, thanks for that."
He grumbled and turned around and started to gather his stuff.
