Rheeda's Story

Chapter -1

Hey mum I'm off. I shouted while running out of the kitchen. Yeah I guess you are thinking who is this girl ?  Well my name is Rheeda Gregs.  I live with just my mum since my dad passed away some years back. I'm sad even thinking of it. Anyways happy thoughts right?... Okay I sound weird I know. Anyway so I'm currently searching for a job so that i can take care for my family. So I've looked at a couple of places but still there seems to be no vacancy anywhere. I'm currently in front of the Hackman's residence. Yeah the Hackman's are one of the world known family in this country. With every single nerve in me shaking, I knock on the heavy looking dark wooden door and hold my breathe waiting for an answer. After what felt like forever, the door finally opened and I come face to face with a very pretty woman around her late forties. She had a bright smile on her face which makes me relax immediately. Hi! You must be Rheeda. She says in a chirpy voice. Yes please. I answer nervously. Come on in. Mrs Hackman has been expecting you. She opens the door wider so i can go through. I follow her nervously into the house. Mrs. Hackman is in her study now so we will have to go there and one thing she hates tardiness. The lady tells me before knocking on one of the numerous doors along the corridors. After about three seconds I hear a stern answer which makes me tense up again. Opening the door, we make our way into the most beautiful room I've ever seen. All the furniture was white with a large dark brown shelf that compliments the white furniture. I didn't realize my mouth was opened until I hear a stern voice say "You can close your mouth now" I drop my head in embarrassment. You can sit now. I look up and realize that the woman from earlier has left and the one before me  now is really pretty. She looks so beautiful I start to feel self-conscious. You must be Rheeda Gregs? Yes ma'am. I answer more nervous than before. Oh call me Vanessa. She says in a chirpy voice. I'm taken aback by her sudden change of mood. You should see the look on your face. She says while she burst out with laughter. Still confused I manage a small smile. So Rheeda tell me about yourself. She says sounding excited. Well there's not much to know about me. I live with my mum since am the only child and my dad died some years back. After high  school, I couldn't continue because my mum had no money  and her health is pretty bad as well so i decides to find a job so i can take care of her. I've done a few random jobs like working at pizza joints, cleaning homes, babysitting and dry cleaning. That's me. When I look up I see that Mrs Vanessa is crying and i get scared. Please I'm sorry I didn't mean to say anyth........ I am cut off by a sudden hug. Sweetheart you have been through so much. I'm sorry about your dad and everything you had to go through. No ma'am its okay. You didn't do anything so you don't need to apologise for anything. I can't help it Rheeda I just can't imagine what you went through all these years. Can we please have happy thoughts now? I ask with a broad smile on my face. This woman was such a cry baby. Yeah she says wiping the tears off her face. So because of the nature of the job you'd have to move in with us. I hope you don't mind. No ma'am. I don't mind at all. I say with so much happiness. I got the job which means i was going to get a lot of money because of the salary and other allowances. You can go home now. You will start on Monday so go get ready and pack up. I'll send a car to get you at 8pm on Sunday. Thank you very much ma'am. I really appreciate it. I said call me Vanessa she says playfully.

And that's how my story started...
