Rheeda's Story

Chapter-2

Mum  i got the job. I shrieked. Oh my God am so happy for you. Mum there's one problem. What is it pumpkin? I have to move in with them. No way you've got to be kidding me. She says surprised. Yes mum but I don't want to go. You'll be left all alone. No no no pumpkin. This is great news. You are going to be living with the Hackman's. That's the greatest news ever. I smiled sadly. Come on Rheeda, you've dreamt about this job since forever you should be happy. I am so happy you should do same. You know what, lets celebrate. I'll treat you to dinner. Come on mum it's just a job not an excel in some exams. I fight the urge to roll my eyes. I still don't care it's an achievement so yeah we are celebrating. I chuckle and grab my coat. Dinner was fun. We ate a lot and arrived home stuffed. I go straight to bed after changing into my favourite pyjamas. All too soon it's Sunday and am standing in front of the Hackman's residence. As I make my way inside, I'm crushed into a tight hug. This woman is too strong for her age. I smile shyly as i hug her back. Welcome Rheeda. I'm soo happy that you are here. Come on I'll show you to your room. I follow Vanessa into a large room. The furniture is all black. The comforter on the king size bed is red and so are the pillow cases. The throw pillow on the single couch is also red. I'm instantly in love with the room. Do you like it?  She asks expectantly. No I don't like it, I love it. I squeal and we both burst out with laughter. God I love you already. She hugs me and i do same. Okay now I'll leave you to unpack, she says and reluctantly. I smile and shake my head while I unpack and repack. After I finish, I make my way to the living room where i find Vanessa. Hi ma'am please what do i have to do?  I ask with my head bowed. Rheeda i said call me Vanessa. She says with a frustrated sigh. Am sorry ma...... I mean Vanessa. A broad smile spreads across her face. Good, but you have to go to bed now. You shift starts tomorrow. Alright thanks ma...... Sorry Vanessa. I smile small and leave to my room. Changing into my favorite pyjamas, i grab a novel and read. I don't know when i fell asleep. I wake up the next morning feeling refreshed. I the a quick shower and get dressed. I make my way to the kitchen and prepare breakfast for the household. After breakfast is served,I go to call Mrs Vanessa. Then I go to call Raphael as well Rafael is her youngest son. Her eldest son - Thomas is practicing medicine somewhere in Africa. He is actually a renowned heart doctor. After everyone is down for breakfast,I decide to leave to the kitchen but Mrs Vanessa stops me. Who prepared this breakfast?I did ma'am. I answer shyly. This is so delicious. As of now,you are assigned to cook all the meals for this household. That's your only job okay? I smile and nod shyly. That's practically how my stay in the Hackman's residence  was. I am even allowed to dine with them. Mrs. Vanessa treats me like her own daughter and I've become very close with Raphael as well. He is like the little brother I never had. I visit mum regularly and I've been able to save enough to buy her all she needs in one month and settled all utility bills. Yeah I'm paid a lot of cash. I do miss her sometime but I'm happy here.
