I sob as I run down the street, trying to get as far away from home as possible. I need to leave; I need to be anywhere but home. I find myself sitting on the sidewalk in the pouring rain.
I lift my hand up to touch the bruise that's forming. I still feel the sting. I wince when I apply too much pressure, and remove my finger.
I hear footsteps coming towards me and I cover my head in my arms, desperately wanting to disappear. Please don't be my brother, I silently repeat in my head. I jump when a hand is placed on my shoulder and I start to sob again.
"Are you okay?" A voice asks me.
I look up to see a boy with dirty blonde hair staring down at me. I can't help the immediate fear that spreads through me; paralyzing me. What if he's helping him? When I look into his eyes I am slightly calmed. He looks so worried; pitiful maybe. I don't know why anyone would be worried about me. Why would they? Let alone a stranger. No one ever has been, or ever will be.
I shake my head and start to cry again.
"Do you need a ride home?"
I look at my lap, and shake my head again. Home. Should I even call it that? Its not my "favorite place" I guess you could say. I couldn't go back there, anyways. Even if I wanted to; needed to. I couldn't. He would kill me for running.
I'm starting to feel light-headed, but I ignore it. Everyone's always told me that it doesn't matter.
I hear the blonde boy's voice slowly fade away as black spots enter my vision.
Nialls P.O.V.-
"Can you hear me?" I ask before the girl passes out. Her head almost hits the ground, but I catch her and lift her in my arms. I carry her to my car; I don't know what the hell I will do with her, but I know that she needs to dry off and she needs to be somewhere else than the street in the pouring rain.
As I lift we up, I notice something.. Odd. She looks about 17, but weighs almost nothing. I can't help but to wonder about it. Many ideas come flooding into my mind, and then I start to think a little more. I haven't even met this girl before, I don't even know her name, and I'm already making assumptions about her.
I bring her to my car and gently lay her down in the passenger seat. You can see all her bones, is the first thing that comes to my head. I push the thought away and focus on the more important thought that should be going through my head; I have to get her somewhere.
I honestly don't know how she will react when she finds out that guy who is three years older than her took her back to his place who also happens to have four other guys living with him.
I arrive at the house and push open the door with my shoulder. I try to be as quiet as possible, but fail miserably. I knock over three pans and they make a loud clattering noise when they come in contact with the ground. Way to fucking go, Niall.
"Shit.." I mutter, and soon Louis enters the kitchen and turns on the lights.
"What the he-" Louis starts, but I cover his mouth.
"I'll explain everything later.. Just help me, please? We need to get her warmed up and get her somewhere to stay until she wakes up."
We bring her up to the guest room and lay a blanket over her small frame. We take one last glance at her and exit the room, closing the door as softly and discretely as possible.
"Now tell me why the hell we have an unconscious girl in our guest room with drenched clothes." Louis sternly says.
I sigh and rub the back of my neck.
"It's not as bad as it loo-" I start but I'm cut off by Louis.
"Oh, well then what the hell is going on because this all looks pretty fucked up!" Louis shouts.
"Well maybe If you let me finish I could tell you what's going on but you won't even let me finish one damn sentence!" I yell back.
He sighs and rolls his eyes. "I'm sorry, now would you tell me what's going on, please?"
"Well I was coming home from the pub when I saw that girl, just sitting on the street. I don't know why, but there was almost something special about her. I felt the need to pull over, so I did. She was crying and when I placed my hand on her shoulder, she seemed so scared. The way she flinched. She wouldn't talk to me, and then she just passed out." I breathe.
"Well thank god, I was so so worried it was something else."
I give him a confused look before gasping.
"I would never!"
"Whatever. So you don't know this girl? At all?"
"No, why?"
"I'm not trying to come of as an asshole, but why the hell did you bring a girl into our house like that? I know I'm not always that sensible, but her parents are probably looking all over for her. She looks like she's still in high school! What will her parents think? They probably thought we fucking kidnaped her! And what the hell will Simon think if he finds out? Oh, fuck! Simon... And what about us- no you, going back with the girl and 'returning' her? What will you say? 'Hi I found your daughter on the street, took her to my place, she stayed the night, and here she is?!' What If the girl doesn't even remember anything but she makes up some story and tells her parents we drugged her or something?! I'm sorry but I'm jus-"
Our conversation is interrupted by gentle footsteps.
