Lisette was amazed to find that she could eat the breakfast Aurelia had brought her and even enjoyed it. The only problem was that the pain overshadowed everything else, so she didn't enjoy it as much as she would have otherwise. Even the overwhelming feeling of desire that she'd had for Aurelia the night before was gone for the moment and Aurelia questioned it when something in their kisses felt different.

“What's going on?”

Lisette was shaking with the intense pain, “It just hurts...a lot,” she replied honestly and Aurelia simply nodded, taking Lisette's hand in her own. The two women sat silently looking into each others eyes, saying so much, while saying nothing at all. Lisette was thankful for Aurelia's company despite wishing she didn't have to see her this way, but Aurelia was simply there, she didn't force conversation or expect an explanation, she just provided company and a sense of knowing that someone was there who cared.

Neither of them paid any attention to the sounds of Elizabeth and Cadence roaming around the house, nobody bothered them and they had no intention of leaving the room unless they had to. They were in their own little world where nothing else existed but the two of them. That is, until Lisette got a strange look on her face as a new feeling overtook her.

Aurelia didn't even bother asking, she just raised an eyebrow as Lisette stared at her confused, trying to figure out what was happening. The feeling was vaguely familiar, but she couldn't quite grasp what it was. And then it hit her. She began to laugh, and despite all the pain she couldn't stop.

“Keep laughing like that and you're going to pee your pants,” Aurelia teased, not realizing how close she was to the truth. Lisette only nodded and, still laughing, forced herself to get up off the bed and hobble towards the door.

“What are you doing?” Aurelia began to laugh with her, having no idea why.

“Trying to keep from peeing my pants,” Lisette laughed and Aurelia's eyes widened in shock.

“Oh my God, I was just kidding!” They were both laughing to the point of tears now as Lisette hurried down the hallway and shut the bathroom door behind her. Aurelia just stood giggling in the hallway and could still hear Lisette's laughter from the other side of the door as she flushed and washed her hands.

“Feel better now?” She asked as Lisette opened the door.

“Yes,” Lisette laughed and they slowly made their way back to the bedroom.

“I can't even imagine what it must be like for you to be going through all this again,” Aurelia pointed out as Lisette settled herself on the bed.

“It's definitely overwhelming,” Lisette replied, leaning back against the pillows.

“Would it be alright if I laid with you?” Aurelia asked and Lisette nodded, scooting over and patting the spot next to her. Aurelia carefully maneuvered herself so that she was snuggled up to Lisette's side with an arm around her. She wanted to be close to the woman she loved as she went through such a major change. It didn't get much bigger than becoming partially human again after two centuries. It pained Aurelia to see her hurting, but she knew it would get better and the end result was so amazing, it almost outweighed her guilt over not being able to do anything to help.

“I love you,” Lisette whispered, resting her cheek on the top of Aurelia's head.

“I love you too.”

They sat in silence for a while, both of them listening to the other breathe, Aurelia's breath was slow and steady while Lisette's went from calm to erratic. An idea suddenly struck Aurelia as she felt Lisette's muscles tighten against her and she sat up quickly.
