(Mia POV)
The Drake ringtone that sounded off my phone alerted me from my reading trance. I pulled my nose out of my history textbook and propped myself off the bed, sighing.
“Hello?” I replied out of breath for a second. “Hey it’s me girl!” The voice lightened up my mood a bit the second I heard it.
“Hey Veronica.” I happily greeted her, knowing there was something up from the extra perk in her tone.
“So uh, are you free tonight?” I could just imagine her twirling her cherry red hair around her fingertips as she asked me the question.
“Busy with homework actually. Why? Something’s up?” It’s Veronica, my childhood best friend and knowing her, there’s always something up.
“Good. Clear your shitty schedule then because you’re coming out with me tonight.” She perkily commanded.
"And where exactly do you think your taking me?” I felt a small smile playing on my lips and the mischievous smirk worn by Ver was conceivably illustrated in my mind.
“A party Mia, you haven’t been to one with me in ages. Probably because your cooped up in that hell of a house twenty-four seven.Get ready to have some real fun. I’m picking you up in twenty, be ready hun.”
With that, she ended the call and I was left with an uneasy feeling churning in my stomach. Partying with Veronica always seems like a good idea, but ended up in shreds. When we were 16, she took me to a damned pub where I got so wasted, I came back home practically half naked. At least I wasn’t fully naked thank god. At the end of the day, she’s still one of my best friends even though we go through all kinds of crap together.
Then again, arguing with her is always pointless. She's no less than Zach, another one of my stubborn but selfless best friends. He’s the one I could trust the most really, though I’m easily distracted by his golden toned skin, well built body-and let’s not forget those intense emerald green eyes. God blessed him so well. Girls swoon over him but I got used to it since knowing a douche like Zach since I was three really kills the “romance”. In short, he’s a total dog. Disgusting. The again, aren’t almost all guys? But I still love him.

I wait outside for Veronica, the summer breeze blowing through the night. A mini skirt and a low crop shirt would do. At least it looked kind of decent. Kind of. I watched as Ver’s white mercedes pulled up. She’s always had a good taste in everything. Typical rich girl, but down to earth at least. She motioned for me to get in backseat and by the beating loud bass of music, I could tell she wasn't alone. Three girls in the backseat cheered as I got seated.
“LISSA?!” I recognized one of them, a very old friend from summer school. She hugged me back and we had an ongoing conversation throughout the full ride to wherever the hell Ver was taking us. I didn't bother to ask, hoping it was a cute little girls night. I was always a sucker for something like that.
The remaining three girls and Ver made small talk besides us. I felt out of place while everyone else was wearing tight, short dresses that showed off their excessive curves. I was never tempted for the lust filled looks the men at the bar people gave young girls. But my friends definitely were. So called “friends” at least.
Before I knew it, we had pulled up in a familiar driveway. Golden plated gates connected like angel wings. Just the driveway looked royal, imagine the inside of the house. Then the realization hit me and my heart sank to my stomach.
“Ver, uh, why are we at the Gold’s house?” I gulped. “Chill Mia, It’s gonna be fun kay? Relax.”
Relax. That’s the only thing I couldn’t do.
