Right before the time when Jerome ran into someone, we go back to Mitch and Adam, whom were catching up to the dark brown silhouette. Adam was the one following Mitch, and right now, he thought what Mitch was doing was utterly stupid. The last time Adam did something with Mitch, was when he followed him to different areas having to do with trouble. But he had to be honest, the only reason he followed Mitch, was to make sure he didn't do anything stupid, which is what he ended up doing sometimes. But this was different, Adam had this feeling, that the dark brown silhouette, was a different subject. Was it a bad idea following something unknown? Probably, but Adam didn't take any chances, and continued following Mitch. In Adam's perspective, he was nervous. He surely did not want to run into the patrol, nor did he want them to find out that him and Mitch fled and were following an unknown object.
One thing he also knew, Mitch wasn't exactly worried of anything. As in, if they ran into a bear, Mitch wouldn't run away, he thinks he's indestructible and starts attacking it, and surely, Adam has to help him. For that reason, is why Adam is accompanying Mitch in the first place, to make sure Mitch doesn't get hurt. After all, Mitch is the prince, and it would be wise to be with him at all times. But Adam continued walking, that is, until Mitch stopped, and hid behind a tree. Adam did the same and whispered, "Mitch, what is it?"
"Shh, I heard something." Mitch whispered back, looking around cautiously. Adam stayed quiet, and he suddenly knew what Mitch was talking about. There was a voice, a female voice, which lurked as if it were surrounding it's prey. Adam looked around, and saw the silhouette, a bit closer now. Adam's eyes widened as he realized what it was. It was a bacca. He couldn't believe it, he was sure they were extinct by now. If not, then it was a mere miracle. He hasn't seen baccas in a long time, this one looked familiar, very, very familiar, his fluffy fur standing at an end, as if something were scaring him.
"Mitch...do you see him?" Adam whispered, looking at Mitch.
"Yes, I see him." Mitch whispered back, his eyes glinting. Adam couldn't tell if it was from curiosity, or from mere wonder. Adam knew that Mitch has a small admiration for baccas. He didn't know why, was it their fur? Their way of living? Adam pushed the thought aside, and stayed silent, looking at the bacca intently.
But it didn't matter, that is, until the voice came back, but it said, "Just at the peak of misery, You will make history, Unless you choose the wrong path, Which can lead to most death."
"What? What does that mean?!" The bacca asked in an irritated way, gripping his axe, as if what were talking to him were right in front of him.
"You'll see." The voice answered, giggling. The bacca then started walking. Adam and Mitch looked at each other, puzzled. Either the bacca is crazy, or it was actually seeing something the didn't see. But whatever it was, the voice seemed to give an eerie, not very detailed, warning. If Adam was correct, the four sentenced stanza was a prophecy, but for what? He wanted to know, but then Mitch got up and started following him again, slowly and carefully. Adam did the same, trying to not make a lot of noise from the twigs and leaves beneath their feet. Adam was getting worried, it looked like the bacca was walking towards the wall, which meant they could run into a patrol. For some reason, the thought of the patrol made Adam feel worried, as if they ran into the patrol, it would mean big trouble, very big trouble. Adam then felt something tug on his shirt, making him stop.
Adam turned and saw Mitch, who said, "Look, Adam."
"Where?" Adam asked.
"Everywhere." Mitch whispered. Adam looked around, and sure enough, there were soldiers out far back, split up.
"They're looking for us, aren't they?" Adam asked nervously. Mitch nodded, and looked back at the bacca, but this time, his eyes widened. Adam, perplexed, looked at the bacca, and sure enough, Adam's eyes widened too.
Preston, had his sword pointing at the bacca's back, "How unlucky it is to come across each other, isn't it?" Adam looked at the bacca, hoping that it wouldn't make a wrong move.
Sure enough, the bacca knelt down, backed up, who was now behind Preston, and pointed his axe at Preston's back, answering, "I thought I'd never come across people like you."
"Well too bad cactus jones, you already have." Preston answered, turning around, both of their weapons colliding against each other. Mitch and Adam both tensed up, looking at the bacca and Preston, fighting. Clashes and swinging were heard, making Adam even more nervous. But what side would he be on? He definitely would pick Preston's and help him, but a part of him wanted to help the bacca. All of a sudden, Preston's blade made contact with the bacca's shoulder, making the bacca and Adam wince. Once he winced, Preston kicked the bacca, making it fall onto the floor. Adam looked away, not wanting to see the bacca's ending.
All of a sudden, Adam felt something speed past him, making Adam look at Mitch, who attacked Preston. Adam's eyes widened in surprise. Once Preston realized who it was, he stopped and looked at Mitch in surprise, but Mitch didn't stop, and his sword strikes Preston side. Preston grunted in pain and fell on his knees, holding his hip, which started to bleed. Adam backed up a bit, staring at Mitch in horror, he couldn't believe it, Mitch helped the bacca, instead of helping one of his greatest friends.
"M-Mitch?" Preston struggled to ask, gripping his hip with his hand, which was crimson red. Mitch's eyes widened, once he realized whom he had attacked.
"It's you." The bacca stated, his eyes full of disbelief, Adam couldn't blame him, he'd be surprised too if the prince protected him as well. The bacca's features looked very familiar, his fluffy, dark fur, his big, brown, round eyes. Suddenly, it hit Adam as hard as a brick, the bacca was Jerome, the small bacca they met ten years ago.
As if in instinct, Adam ran towards Preston and looked at his wound. It wasn't too bad, at least that's how Adam saw it, but it would need healing. Adam looked up at Mitch in disappointment, and he shook his head.
"Hey! There's Mitch over there!" A soldier shouted.
"How come Preston is on the ground?" Another one asked.
Mitch looked at the guards, but he suddenly backed up, turned around, and ran towards the dark forest, with Jerome running behind him. Adam helped Preston up, who winced in pain. The soldiers ran towards him and Preston, and they all had surprised looks in their faces, "Preston! Adam! What happened?! Where is Mitch?!"
Preston, with his hand, pointed towards the forest, "Over there, th-they went over there, don't loose them." All of a sudden, the guards started running towards the forest, leaving only Preston and Adam.
"Come on, we have to go back." Adam said half-heartedly, putting Preston's arm over his shoulder to help him walk. Adam looked over his shoulder towards the forest, saying,
"Mitch, what have you done?"
