One Love

Chapter Three

JEN'S POV

  Paris spent the night and around three o'clock she yelled,"Jen! Get in here!"

  "What?" I asked while walking into the living room.

  "Selena's on Tv."

  "I don't really care."

  "She's talking about Justin. She said that he broke up with her."

  "Turn it up!"

  "So Selena, why do you think that Justin would break up with you?" the interviewer asked.

  "He said that it was because of his busy tour schedule. I'm about to start my tour, so he said that it wouldn't work out. But I don't think that's the real reason," Selena said.

  "What do you think the real reason is?" the interviewer pestered her.

  "Well, he was texting this one girl named Jen. He assured me that she was just a good friend from Stratford. She has cancer you see, so I just thought that he was texting her to see how she was doing. One day he was talking to Jen on the phone and he told her that he loved her. I just assumed that he loved her as a friend. Then he broke up with me today, so I think that he could have been cheating on me with Jen or vice-versa."

  "That's a lot to take in."

  "Yes it is."

  Then Paris turned off the Tv. "He broke up with Selena! Do you think he'd ever get back together with you?"

  "He might ask me, but I'll probably tell him no. He broke his promise. Just like I broke the promise ring he gave me."

  "You broke it? How?"

  "He called me and I threw my phone, it hit the ring, and then the gem fell out."

  "Why wouldn't you get back together with him? All guys do stupid stuff."

  "Paris, he basically told me to die!"

  "I know. But you've seen how he is when he gets upset. He broke his hand from punching a wall because he was angry and upset."

  "I guess you're right. But it'll take awhile before we'll even be close again."

  "Yeah. That's probably what I'd say if Ryan said those same things to me."

  Then my mom came in. "Jen, the doctor called."

  "Oh please Mom. I can't bear anymore bad news," I said while putting my head in my hands.

  "No, it's not bad news. Your cancer's gone!"

  At this, I jumped off the couch. "Yay!" Paris and I hugged and started jumping up and down. "I'm so happy! It's gone Paris! It's really gone!"

  "I know! I'm calling Ryan and Chaz and we'll go and celebrate! Where do you want to go?"

  "It's August and it's hot out, so how about we go swimming."

  "Sounds good to me. I'll call the boys."

  When the boys got here, they gave me a bear hug at the same time. "Hey. I'm getting squashed here!"

  "Sorry," Chaz and Ryan said in unison.

  "Congratulations!" Ryan exclaimed.

  "We knew you'd beat cancer's sorry butt!" Chaz exclaimed.

  "Thanks guys!" I told them. "So Paris and I are going to go change, wait here." When Paris and I got into my bedroom, I opened my closet. "Do you just want to borrow one of my swimsuits so you don't have to go home and get one?" I asked her.

  "Sure. Which one do you think would look good on me?" Paris asked.

  "How about this one," I said while pulling out a bright red stapless bikini.

  "I love it!" she exclaimed while I handed it to her. "What are you going to wear?"

  "I don't know yet."

  "I'll pick one out."  She pulled out a white colored bikini with purple flowers on it.

  "I totally forgot about this one! I'm wearing it!" Paris went into the bathroom to change and I changed in my bedroom. Then we walked back out into the living room.

  "Takes you two long enough," Ryan said. "Especially you," he joked as he pointed to Paris.

  "Oh shut up, Ryan," she said.

  "Just joking. You know I love you." Ryan put his arm around Paris and said he'd drive.

  We got to the pool and swam for a while. The boys were standing by the edge of pool, and Paris and I came up behind them and pushed them in. The boys came out and we were rewarded by Chaz throwing me in and Ryan throwing Paris in.

  "Let's take a picture and send it to Justin," Chaz suggested.

  "Uh okay," I said. Ryan and Chaz still didn't know what happened between Justin and I, so they thought that we were still together. We all squeezed together and took a group selfie. Chaz sent it to Justin with the caption Jen's cancer is gone!

  Later we got pizza and then they dropped me off at home. I had the most fun I'd had in a long time.
