Chapter 37- 'Goodbye'

Liam's POV

The sunlight streamed through the thin curtains as I squinted while rising my hand to rub my puffy and sore eyes only to collide with a body curled up against my side. Looking down I see the familiar mop of curls spread out across my bare chest as her hand is gently placed against my ribs. I feel my mouth curl up into the first smile all week as I wrap my arms around my wife's small frame before feeling her stir slightly and snuggle closer to me.

"I love you", I whisper hoarsely while moving some stray curls away from her face.

"I love you too Liam", her voice rings out yet her eyes remain closed.

Still admiring the woman asleep next to me I soon see her eyes open revealing the dark brown orbs I adore. I watch her move her body so she is straddling me, her lips make contact with my bare chest as she places soft kisses along my skin. Placing my hands on her bare thighs I rub small circles into her skin bringing comfort. Sitting up I push her body closer to mine before I bury my face into her neck. Kissing the soft skin on her neck I then feel her hands travel down my back gently.

"I don't like being away from you", I whisper into her skin.

"I don't like you being away from me", she replies, her voice soft yet gravelly.

Her face then leans down to catch my lips in a long kiss, our lips move together in sync as her arms wrap around my neck and her hands get lost in my short hairs. Rubbing circles into her hips I sigh into the kiss before were pulling away while gasping for air. I simply pull her body closer into a comforting hug in order to mend my sadness.

"Daddy!", I hear a voice squeal excitedly.

I quickly move Danielle off my lap and stand up to pick up my son and daughter. Immediately they both tackle me in hugs while Danielle laughs at their excitement and affection.

"I missed you both", I sigh as Luca takes place in lying on my chest while Isabella is under my right arm next to her mum.

"Auntie liv got food!", Isabella says excitedly.

"Yes Liv brought us all a McDonalds didn't she?", Danielle smiles.

"Yummy daddy!", Luca says snuggling closer as my arm rubs up and down his back.

"I heard you kept the girls safe while daddy was gone", I chuckle as Luca suddenly sits up with a big smile causing his dummy to fall out and onto my chest.

"Yeah! Luca big boy!", he squeals excitedly.

"No daddy! Isabella kept safe!", Isabella says defensively causing me to chuckle.

"You both kept mummy safe", I smile down at my children and then at Danielle.

"So shall we go and see nanny today?", I say taking in a deep breath.

"Yeah!", Isabella says happily while Luca nods.

"Big cuddles and kisses for nanny today", Danielle says softly.

"Always bug cuddles and kisses for nanny", Isabella smiles.

Around 20 minutes we were all ready and on our way to the hospital. Being honest I was nervous for Danielle and the kids to see my mum in this state. I think they will be shocked because she just isn't herself anymore.

Entering her ward I'm immediately met be several nurses walking up to me, Danielle, my dad and both children.

"I'm sorry but young children aren't allowed into the ward", a nurse explains.

"Errm, were here to see Karen Payne", my dad speaks up as I watch the nurses facial expressions soften.

"Of course, you go ahead just keep them close incase of any dangers", she says as I nod before continuing walking.
