Chapter Two

When I get up in the morning my ankle feels better and I can almost walk normally. When I get out to Chris’s car I see a little boy. Chris looks where I look and I know he can’t see him. I go over and I talk to him.

"Hi." I say softly.

"Can you help me find my dog?" I nod.

"I don’t have a lot of time, but maybe we can look for him." He nods. "Do you remember where you left him?" I ask.

"I think I hear him." He says. "Come on." I follow him and we go into my backyard and into the woods. Then I hear him to. "Come on." I follow him. "Here Basket." A golden retriever comes out of the trees.

"Do you see a light?" I ask. "Anything?" He nods.

"It’s pretty. I thing Basket see’s it to." I nod. "Thank you." Then their both gone. I come out of the woods and I go back to the car. I throw my bag inside and get in.

"Morning." I say as I put on my seatbelt.

"Hey. Where’d you go?" He asks as he pulls out of the drive way.

"I went to help a lost soul." I smile

"I’m glad your coming around." I shrug. "So are we going to talk about it?" I look at him puzzled. "The kiss Sky." I look down at my hands.

"There is so much more to it than you realize Chris. If this ends badly then I lose you. Your really important and I would really love to keep you in my life."

"I get it, but I wanna be with you Sky." I look out the window and close my eyes and tears stream down. He takes my hand and I let him.

"Dido." I wipe my eyes with the other hand. I squeeze his hand. "Yes." I say. I turn to him. "Yeah, we can try things out." The rest of the way is quiet and ok.

When we get to school the same people surround the car. I start to walk off like I always do, but Chris grabs my hand and pulls me back. He always looks like he wants me to stay, but he never asks me to. He holds my hand and wraps his other arm around my waist and pulls me to him.

"You guys remember Sky right?"

"You two finally together?" This one guy, I think his name is Gordon, says. "Finally grew a pair and told her how you feel." I laugh a little.

"At least he didn’t strike out." Another guy says. He and Chris high five. "Hi I’m Steven." He shakes my hand. "At least we know Chris doesn’t have bad taste." I blush a little.

"I’m Sarah." A girl with brown hair and olive green eyes says. Her eyes are nothing like mine. Mine are a bright green.

"Hi."

"Chris why are you just now letting us meet you’re girlfriend?" I smile at the word.

"Wasn’t exactly my choice. Plus you already know her." She shrugs.

"I take it you finally decided to stay because your getting tired of Chris?" I raise both of my eyebrows.

"We still on for lunch?" Another unknown voice asks.

"It’s all up to Sky." I give him a why did you just do that look. He avoids my gaze.

"Yeah sure, but I have to go." I smile and wave and walk away. As I walk away the old guy pops up next to me. "Not now." I mutter.

"You shouldn’t try and fit somewhere you don’t belong. That’s his world. Not yours."

"What are you my conscience?" He shrugs. "Go away." Then he‘s gone. I try and walk like my ankle isn’t throbbing.
