In the midst of telling the story, Peter explained how the Argents killed a member of Ennis' pack, making Ennis use his claws to carve a spiral into the wall of the distillery.

Now standing by the large window, Peter drew a spiral in the precipitation. "Our mark for vendetta."

"Man, you guys take that whole revenge thing to, like, a whole new level, don't you?" Stiles called, his eyes narrowed on the spiral.

"It's not just revenge," Cora defended harshly, "losing a member of your pack isn't like losing family. It's like you lose a limb."

"They wouldn't even let him see the body," Peter spoke lightly, feigning sympathy.

"I don't get it," Cora furrowed her brows. "What does this have to do with Derek?"

"Everything," Peter spun around, gesturing as he walked and spoke. "It's never just a single moment. It's a confluence of events. Personally, I looked at Ennis' circumstances, I saw profound loss." Peter lied, "Derek saw something different. He saw opportunity."

"Opportunity? To do what?"

"To always be with her," Peter said vaguely.

Derek was currently sitting in a classroom, being the good student he was and did his work quietly. He slowly rose his head to look toward Michael. She sat across from him, flipping through her book, highlighter in mouth as she took notes like always. The sound of her flipping through her books was a sound he'd grown to love.

After school, he set down the hall and to the music room, where he found Michael, this time only sitting at her desk, no books in front of her. After seconds of Derek standing there, she finally looked up at him, "Oh, hi!"

Derek, who was leaning against the doorway, stared at her admiringly while he answered, "Hi," his tone loving. He quickly entered to sit next to her, this time not pulling a chair up because he didn't have to. Michael had gotten into the habit of pulling it to her desk for him. "No books today?"

"Nope," she answered, a smile coming to rest on her lips. "I was thinking we could hang out at my house instead?" Despite her smile, she was nervous he would say no. "Only if you want to, though!" she was quick to reassure.

Shaking his head, Derek leant closer, sending her an assuring smile. "Well, shouldn't we be leaving, then?" With a giddy smile at his reply, Michael nodded, quickly getting her bag and pulling him by the hand.

After a short walk, they reached the Narcovak residence and Derek could barely hold in his shock. It was a big house and knowing Michael was an only child, he couldn't imagine why they needed to live in such a big house. "Wow," was all Derek could say.

Michael gave him an uncomfortable smile and just pulled him again, "Come on." As they entered, Derek was still shocked by how fancy the house was. It even seemed much bigger from the inside. "Take your shoes off," she told him, kicking hers off in the process. Once he did, she took his hand and pulled him up the stairs and to her bedroom. "This is my room, I spend most of my time here," she explained throwing her bag on a table next to her door. Derek followed suit, then moving to sit on her bed while Michael stayed standing before him.

"Are your parents not home?" Derek inquired, looking around to the posters of movies and her favorite musicians that littered the walls.

"Um," Michael cleared her throat, not really wanting to get into the topic of her parents, "no, it's just us."

Derek sent her a grin, reaching out for her. Slowly, she put her hand in his, letting him pull her to stand between his legs. "So, what did you want to do?"

Wrapping one of her hands around his neck, she answered, "I thought we could watch a movie and maybe go for dinner after? How does that sound?"

"That sounds perfect," Derek answered, pulling her in for a sweet kiss. "But there is something I want to do first." Michael only tilted her head curiously, waiting for an answer to her unspoken question. He didn't bother to answer, instead he flipped her back onto the bed, pressing kisses to her face.

She couldn't help but squeal at the sudden movement. Them she laughed loudly, pushing on his shoulders. "Der, that tickles!" After a few more kisses and giggles, Derek finally pulled away, but not before placing one final kiss to her lips. When he fully pulled away, they both had wide smiles on their faces. "Derek?"

"Yeah?" Derek's response was only a whisper, his forehead now resting on hers as one elbow held him up and the other rest on her jawline.

She leant up for one more kiss before she answered, the action only meant to procrastinate the scary three words she was about to speak. "I love you."

Derek then opened it eyes, not expecting the confession. If his smile could grow anymore, it would. "I love you, too, Mikey. I love you so much." With just as wide a smile, Michael kissed him once more, reveling in her current happiness.
