Here's the next chapter, sorry it is small but the next chapter will be our first split so it may take a bit longer to post but I assure you it will be worth the wait.
Once again I do not own BBC Sherlock (but I am open to the possibility in the future)

All night and the next morning, Sherlock paced the flat. He would mumble to himself before sitting down briefly, only to spring back up and resume his pacing.

Happy to escape, John spent his time at the clinic, determined to prove he had a life outside of Sherlock's control.

This little rebellion had John spending his evening with his girlfriend, Maggie. Or Mag as she liked to be called.

The first afternoon went wonderful as they watched a movie together before ending the night at a pub sharing a basket of fish and chips.

The next morning however, the papers stated that a second homicide had taken place which left John feeling horrible for enjoying his evening.

Sherlock seemed unfazed as he typed away on John's computer, wearing only a bed sheet.

"Sherlock are you not going to get dressed and solve the case? Women are dying!"

Sherlock, of course, barely mumbled a reply. His attention solely on the screen.

John spent the evening at Mag's again but his attention kept swinging to his phone to see if Sherlock needed him or if there had been any leads.

In the end, Mag got so mad at him she practically threw him out of her flat.

When John got home he found Sherlock standing before the window playing his violin. Thankfully Sherlock was now dressed in his maroon shirt and black pants.

The sad melody John had heard coming up the stairs was quickly changed to a more lively tune before dwindling to a series of senseless chords.
Through it all Sherlock never looked away from the window.

"She kicked you out," Sherlock stated, his calm demenor showing it was no surprise.

John let out a sigh. "I can't enjoy myself if I know innocent women are being targeted by a murderer."

Sherlock set down his violin before settling in the seat across from John.

"Some might say an escort is not innocent." Sherlock mused, his eyes focused on John's face.

John was used to this scrutiny, Sherlock would make some comment and then watch John's reaction.

"Modern day escorts do not sleep with clients unless they choose to. In fact, most are just a plus one so that a man doesn't show up to a party alone."

Sherlock nodded in response before jumping up to his feet. "No need to worry about the escorts, instead how about you take...." he paused as if trying to remember John's girlfriend's name.

"Maggie," John supplied, used to this behavior.

Sherlock carelessly flicked a hand "yes Maggie, to a fancy dinner. It will prove apology enough and it will be a nice change from fish and chips I'm sure."

John didn't bother to ask how Sherlock knew about their last dinner and instead focused on a bigger problem.

"I don't possess anything nice enough for such a date."

John also thought about his latest grocery trip, "nor have I the funds for such an evening."

Sherlock leapt to his feet before disappearing in the direction of his rooms.

he returned with a tux which he presented to John with a smile. "Which is why I took the liberty of purchasing this for you. Also I deposited a check in your account."

John stood dumbfounded. "I'm not a charity case Sherlock, what are you up to. You never do anything without a reason"

Sherlock did his best impression of offended yet sincere.
"Doesn't your happiness count as a reason? Your moping around the flat is ruining my thinking. Besides the check was from a client on our last case. I have no need for it but I'm aware that you seem to care greatly about such things"

With that, Sherlock put on his jacket and headed to the door. "Oh and I took the liberty of making a reservation, under the name Watson of course."

John stared in bewilderment as Sherlock left the flat. There was no doubt that Sherlock was up to something. The last time he had made reservations for John it had been at an Asian circus which had been for a case.

Taking a deep breath, John called Mag, hoping she would accept an apology and the dinner date.
