This chapter is dedicated to @Heatheranno ~ make sure to go check out her story Breathing Fire!
Just an FYI ~ the chapters will be a little shorter for the next few. There is just a whole lot going on to be contained in just one! But we will be posting again on Sunday to make up for it!
Above is pictured our version of Garreth. :) Enjoy...
It took a few racing heartbeats for me to catch my bearings. What did she give me? I stood there in a stupor as the ground beneath me shifted, sending me off balance.
Killian hurried to my aid, keeping me upright. "Whoa, Astra."
"What did you give her?" Idal raged while charging straight for Melinah. Two of the Azeeds grabbed hold of my mother before she could lay a hand on the blue-tinged woman.
"She's fine. She's fine." Melinah shouldered past Idal as if she wasn't even there, stopping right before Killian. "Swallow every single drop in that pretty little bottle, and I'll tell you exactly what I gave the poor girl." The abrupt pause gave her ample time to take me into consideration. "Although, what I gave her shouldn't be having this effect on her unless..."
"Melinah, what did you—" Killian didn't get a chance to finish his question. One of the bleached men hastily wrapped a firm hand around Killian's neck and rammed his body into a side wall.
Melinah ignored Killian altogether and spun on her cyan blue heels to face Idal. "You've given it to her before, haven't you?"
Idal forced a half-laugh. "I don't know what you're—"
Melinah cupped a hand over my mother's mouth before she could finish her statement. "Don't lie, Idal. Any damage done to Astra is by your hands, not mine." With her attention seemingly still fixed on Idal, Melinah thrust a pointed finger toward Killian. "Take it now!"
Killian struggled to break free of the Azeed holding onto him. "How do I know it's not some poison?"
My head started whirling as the conversation continued around me. Everything was at a standstill. From my fingertips to my toes encased in these cerulean heels, every part of me warmed, itched and quivered. I grappled to stay coherent with my dried eyes wide open while no one else seemingly noticed my changing state.
Words from the blue woman's mouth muffled and twisted as she said, "She's still standing, isn't she?" Her raised hand motioned from the gold man to the pink woman. "And I despise her even more than I do you!"
What were they even discussing?
"Killian, just take it," the pink woman said in a grave voice.
Killian? Who was Killian?
Everything became a blur. From my scattering thoughts to my distant memories to every single feeling and fleeting sensation that coursed throughout me moments prior. Everything now was numb. There. Idle. Vacant.
I blinked a few times, trying to acclimate myself to where I was. Who were these strange people with the weird colored skin? I jumped, flinching at the sight of my own blue hands.
What had happened to me?
"Ah...see it's already working." The blue woman beamed as she strode closer to me. "She doesn't remember a thing, do you?" She stalled, tapping a finger to her chin. "Alana?"
Alana? Alana? Alana. Was that my name?
"Damn you, Melinah! You gave her an amnay?" the gold man seethed. Beneath the yellow tinge of his skin, I spotted the beet red coloring blazing across his face.
