The snow was falling in big flakes and the wind was blowing, the warriors stood on two sides of a open field.
"Let death come over our enemies. The gods shall be on our side.
Now fight my brothers and sister! Fight for our lands!"
The leader let out a deathly howl and the warriors started to run towards each other. The fight was a massacre, bloody and faithful.
In the end the Clan of Blood won.
The cats searched for wounded warriors of their clan.
They just found three. In a group of fifteen they began the walk home, the strong ones carryed the wounded. They weren't happy to fight the Azbakian-Clan and they weren't happy to win.
The Clan of Blood despited every fight for lands. They didn't see a reason to fight for this. Every Clan had its own terretory and it was big enough to get 100 cats through winter."How are the wounded?" Asked Luno, their leader, as they made a pause for sleeping.
"They are doing well, but hopefully we get home soon. They still need the help of our healer." Calw's brown fur was cut at his cheek, the blood sticked dry in his hair.
"You should wash." Luno said and went to the wounded.
One named Neeta, a grey she-cat stood up. Her left foreleg was swollen and she was limping but didn't seem to mind.
"How are you?" Luno asked and she answered:"I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Worry about greyworm. He is weak, his chest is badly wounded, we need someone to stop the bleeding." Luno nodded and went to the rather old black cat, with a grey mark on the top of his nose.
"ah-The black moon is coming to meet this old broken body.
What do you want Luno?"
Greyworm heckled and Luno licked the old cats forehead. "You fought good, greyworm. What is your wound doing?" Greyworm licked his lips and said:"It's going to kill me. But I deside where. So I ask you for a favor."
Luno sat by the old one and nodded. "Everything you want." he replied and so the black cat started:"I want you to stop my bleeding. You have to search for spiderwebs and moss okay? Then you will go and let me die in the wild. When the great gods deny me to die in battle, then I won't die in a cosy cage, not able to move."
Luno nodded and stood up:"Just wait for a bit longer, my friend. I will get everything."After an hour Luno arrived at his group again. He went straight to see Greyworm. The black was awfully weak, but as he saw Luno he stood up right away.
"Lay down again, my friend." Luno ordered and Greyworm didn't complain.
After Luno cared for the wound, the old warrior stood up.
"I will leave you now. May the Gods be with you and guide you fast through our lands so that they will sing songs about our glorious Fight, our glorious win." They all nodded and showed him their respect, then he went and the falling snow seemed to swallow him whole.
The gods had mercy with the group of warriors. They traveled fast and it wouldn't be long until they would arrive at home.
The Clan of Blood and the Clan of Water were the only Cat Clans who didn't believe in the Starclan- a Clan formed of the dead cats of every Clan who believed in the Star Clan, living in peace.
But the Clans of Blood and Water didn't think that the Star Clan would exist if there were no gods, so they didn't believe it. They believed in the great cat gods who would lead them through everything. And when they died, they would go up to them and hunt with their ancestors. It was about past midday, when they arrived at their camp. They saw the thick walls of blackberry bushes who surrounded a clearing and had many caves formed out of the thick branches and roots were the cats could sleep and live.
Luno smiled when he noticed that the cats, who didn't help the wounded, burst down the snowy hill to the little valley were the camp was settled. He could feel the excitement rolling over them and had to stop himself from running to.
The first warrior reached the tunnel wich lead to the clearing and as he crawled through it he could hear the cats in the camp chatter in exitement. Soon many cats burst out of the tunnel and welcomed them home.
The whole valley was full if cats and even the students, who were trained to be warriors, were chattering in exitement.
The chief Scarstar came out and went straight to Luno, who was a bit nervous.
Scarstar was a brown, big, muscular male cat with three deep scars across his face. He was a good fighter and had loved to come with them to fight the Azbakian-Clan, but he couldn't. His mate and partner had given birth to their kittens the hour they wanted to leave for the fight and Sandhurst, his mate, didn't intend to let him go."How was the fight?" he asked and the deep voice caused Luno to shiver.
"It was bloody. We lost fifteen of our warriors, but we defeated the enemy. They came in a group of 30 cats, we had to kill twenty. We have thr- two badly wounded. The others came out with a few scratches. Deep but not alerting." Scarstar noded and went to see the wounded. He took Raven with him. A black she-cat with blue eyes, she was their healer.A grey she-cat came to Luno, her name was Greyclaw and she had frighten is her eyes:" Where is Greyworm? Where is my father?"
Luno looked at her sad but answered:"Retarded"Her eyes whidened and Luno saw the green sprinkles in her brown iris: "You are lying." she whispered, then she shouted: "You are lying! He promised me to come back! He promised he would see my babies and he promised he would survive! You are lying. " her voice broke and she said, barely audible:"He promised. He promised."
Luno pressed his head against her forehead, trying to comfort her and said:"He did survive the fight. But his wounds were deep. He wanted to die in the wild and not in a sickbed." Greyclaw nodded and said:"I am sorry Luno. I am sorry for saying you are a liar. That wasn't right."
"It's okay. You are in deep grief. You had to say it. I understand."
She seemed a little bit more positive and went to see the other warriors. She would go with a group of cats to bury the dead in a few days. He knew she would just to search for her father. To see if he was alive or if he died.
And Luno should be right.
