Something was wrong.

I knew it the second I came to the edge of the cliff. I could just....feel it.

When I looked closer at my little tower, I saw that the light was on in the second floor window. How did someone get in there? Whatever, I'm checking it out.

I climbed up the wall and stepped on to the thin wrap around balcony that surrounds the second floor. I stood just out of sight of the window, but where I could see it. My eyes peaked through the glass and what I saw made my face go into a snarl. It was six people, all dressed in blue, the color of the eriudite faction. They were the ones trying to take over and rule our country. The eriudites were the smart ones. So it didn't surprise me when they had set up 4 computers. They probably thought this place was abandoned. Ugh I hate those arrogant people, and eriudite is full of them. I pulled out my pocket knife, getting ready to charge in and knock some heads, when I was spotted.

A boy, about my age with black hair and green eyes. His appearance was extravagant compared to my all brown eyes and brown hair. His eyes met mine, and I rose an eyebrow, questioning as to why he hadn't told his friends about me yet. He shook his head slightly and mumbled something to the woman on his right. Then walked towards the entrance to the balcony.

He walked over to me, but before he started talking, I shushed him, grabbed his hand, pinned it behind his back until he said, "calm down, I'm on your side." I glared at him but decided to trust him, he hadn't ratted me out so far. So I grabbed his hand and led him down under the deck where no one would hear us talking. When we got there, I said, "ok you can talk now." The boy glared and said, "why are you here?"

"Why are you here? This is my place."

He scoffed, "your place?"

"Ya, idjit, if one of your little friends goes down the hallway and takes a left at the last door, that's a bedroom. My bedroom."

His eyes widened.

"Ugh never mind" I said, and added,"what did you mean when you said you were on my side?"

"I'm against the eriudite and hacking into their programs."

"What faction are you from originally?" I asked, generally curious. I'm always curious.

He sighed and said,"eriudite... but I'm completely against them."

"Really?"

"Yes. what faction are you from?"

"You haven't guessed?"

"Yes, I just want to make sure I'm right." How eriudite of him...

"Dauntless" I said, ignoring his comment.

He smiled and said, "nice."

I looked at the boy infront of me. I mean, I really studied him, and there was something wrong, his pupils were diolated, and I could sense his heart beating. I measured it to my own. And it was a pace faster.

Gently, I asked,"what aren't you telling me?" his eyes went wide.

"Umm-"he stuttered, "my name...? it's Eric, by the way."

"Ok Eric, now what aren't you telling me?"

"Please" he begged, "don't ask"

My eyes went as wide as soccer balls, I had figured it out, the way his eyes sparkled, and how he was a bad liar.

"Eric," I said slowly, "your divergent." he sighed and somebody called his name. "ill meet you on top of that canyon tomorrow, at 12 sharp, got that?" He questioned.

"I don't know," I said in a bored tone,"I might have plans..."

"Oh shut up and meet me there."

"Fine" I turned around only to be caught by my wrist.

"What?"

"You didn't tell me your name."

I just smirked and said, "they call me Gemma."
