CHILDREN OF GOD

To have faith in Him doesn't only save us... importantly, we will become part of God's family. A FAMILY!

"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." - John 1:12

If you accept and believe in Jesus then I'll say, "Welcome to the Family of God!"

Not by blood or flesh but by the Holy Spirit.

"And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God." -Galatians 4:6-7

You are His and He is yours as intimate as a family.

And so we will inherit the Kingdom of God. Heaven is ours... soon it will be.

To be part of God's family, to be His children, we have a responsibility to uphold, Yes, we have many privileges to enjoy but being part of God's family is not about what we get from God the Father rather what we can offer Him as His child. That should be the focus of our mindset.

The greatest responsibility we have as a child of God is...to be just like Our Father!

As a Child of God, we should be a reflection of our Father, who is in Heaven.

We may never be perfect but we should strive to be one. To imitate Him. To imitate Jesus, who is the image of the invisible God, and who is the radiant glory of God.

Now the question is, what was He like?

Jesus, our Lord & Savior... Our God came into this world to serve rather than be served. The King of kings and Lord of lords did it. To seek the lost, to heal His people, to teach and to preach. He was, is and will be the Good News we preach. He came to rescue us from the trap of the enemy... offering His life for us.

Jesus Christ is the living example. God sent Him to us, His Son, so that we can follow, imitate Him. He is our role model.

And if we are indeed children of the Most High, we must desire to give Him honor and glory and to be acknowledge by Him.

To honor and glorify Him in everything we do. To be acknowledge by Him. Isn't that what we want to do? as a child i always wanted to be acknowledge by my parents. I want them to be proud in what i do... I want them to love me and appreciate what i do. In the same way, we want God to acknowledge us... We want Him to notice us, to notice by doing His will... for doing good... to please Him above all. But living in this world, it'll be hard since the world is so influential and the pressure it gives the people is just so hard to neglect, at times, but know that in every command God has an accompanying promise in it.

"The one who is victorious will, like them be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person in the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and His angels." - Revelation 3:5 NIV

Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is telling us that if we can overcome the world through faith by doing His will, He will acknowledge us in the presence of God the Father and His angels. I wish and dream of that day, I wish... Jesus will acknowledge me.

People by nature we want the attention, to be notice... if not by everyone, even just by a few... or even one person. We'll do our best for them to notice us, accept us and eventually love us.

We should do the same for our Heavenly Father. He sees everything we do... Go and make Him proud!

But, before we can be like Jesus...

The only way we can imitate Jesus and the only way we can please God is after we repent.

Our actions or good deeds can please God after we repent. To repent means to turn away from wickedness and return to God. Believe in the Gospel... believe in Jesus Christ.

To repent is to act your faith, to ask God for forgiveness so that He can cleanse us, sincerely with all of your heart.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9

God says in the old and new testaments that He remembers your sin no more...

"I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgression for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." - Isaiah 43:25 KJV

" And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." - Hebrews 8:12 NLT

And so we should forget about our past iniquities, repent and be a living proof, a living testimony of how great God is because of what He has done in our lives.

The moment we are clean, your new life starts... You're free from sin. You're God's child now. And so act like one... Not the boastful, arrogant kinda person, because you think to yourself I'm God's child... I'm higher than any one... NO! Act like Jesus. Do every thing in love, be humble, be a servant leader, etc.

In every step of the way God will guide you, you are His child afterall.

Jesus says in the Bible,

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that i have said to you." - John 14:26

The Holy Spirit dwells within you now.

And the fruit of the Holy Spirit are,

"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness," - Galatians 5:22 NLT

So as Children of God, be filled with the Holy Spirit and be prepare to do good works. And remember you are not doing it to be saved rather you are doing it because you are saved.

"...to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various, lust, and pleasure, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us..." - Titus 3: 2-5

As Children of God, we must be prepared to do good things that we may glorify Him through our lives, the way we live our lives. To be just like our Heavenly Father. Also remember that whatever we do in His mighty name, always let the Spirit of God move and reveal things to you- only then will He be please.
