CHAPTER 2

Maddie went home crying, Jonas was such a different person. In all the time she was dating him, never ever did he seem angry or violent or cruel. He did often have his moments where if he didn't like her clothing, saying that it was too short or if she was talking to a male friend from uni, he would be very quiet and just watch every move she made.

She never let it affect her, always the peace maker, always trying to make him feel better, she would quickly change her clothes if he didn't approve, she would refrain from speaking to the boys at her uni, she did anything just to make him happy. Maddie loved Jonas so much that it didn't bother her to change her ways for him, she was happy to do it.

The way he had been tonight at the club was just wrong. He was drinking and he was just showing her what a whore she really was. He wanted to degrade her, make her feel like she was naught but a very trashy stripper who pulled one over him. That was never her intention, never in all her time with Jonas did she intentionally want to upset him. If anything, she did everything she could do to make him happy.

Had Maddie really thought he would take it that bad she would have told him about it. In her head she was just dancing, it was her job, she never in a million years thought he would take it so bad. Turns out she was wrong. She had been dancing at clubs for years. It was simply a means to an end. Not really qualified in anything else, Maddie took the job as a dancer. Why he had a problem with it she didn't know, all he had to do was tell her that he didn't like her to dance there and she would have quit. He didn't need to scare the crap out of her by destroying the entire place.

Maddie was so depressed. How could you hurt somebody you once cared for? No matter what the reason was. What she didn't understand was why he continued to watch her, why he made it known he was there just to make her feel like she worthless in his eyes.

Her phone rang and she woke from her thoughts. "Hey Maddie,..." It was Aliyah.

"Hey you, how are you?"

"Yeah good. Ruby keeping me very busy and Isaac of course, it's always one thing or another with that guy I swear." Maddie laughed.

"It's been so long Ali, we need to catch up..." She meant it. Only problem with seeing Aliyah, she might run into Jonas and that was not something that Maddie wanted to do.

"I know, I also know your busy, that's why I don't bug you too much. But it's Ruby's birthday next Saturday and you have to be there. If you can get time off and stay with us until after the birthday that would be great. Truth is I need all the help I can get. I want to bake everything myself and I want to decorate and I need you... I don't have any other friends Maddie... Bff..." Maddie laughed despite herself.

"Ali... Is Jonas going to be there?" Aliyah was silent. "Of course he's gonna be there." She answered herself.

"Listen I swear I won't let you two be alone at all. Please... I'll beg if I have to." Maddie didn't want to let her down, but she refused to be in the same room with Jonas, it was just way too hard, his treatment of her was just getting worse every time she was around him.

"Okay, look, how about a compromise? I'll come next Monday, spend the entire week with you, but I won't be there for the party. I will have a special celebration with Ruby before the party." Aliyah waited a while before she spoke.

"Why has something new happened between the two of you?" She asked her voice filled with concern.

"Kind of, he rocked up to the club as he has been doing lately to watch me do my performance. Usually he watches, gets his lap dance and leaves. This time he requested a private dance with me for five thousand dollars. I had no idea it was him, when I realized he was the client I couldn't do it. " Maddie started crying.
