The Road

I took a walk along a road, so dusty, long, and bare;

Shuffled slowly, danced and ran, and strode forthrightly there.

All along I knew my course; steadfast and resolute;

I was going to the END- (not knowing it was moot).

I reached the END and stood stock still; taken by surprise.

I shook my head in wonderment; could not believe my eyes!

I thought I’d get there, step by step, and finally lose my load;

But life revealed what I’d not seen; yes, just another road.
