"So, another party tonight?" asks Flo –one of my best friends – with a disapproving look in her hazelnut-coloured eyes.
"You bet, "I say grinning .
Flo – short for Florence – and I are in the huge canteen of Kingston University. After my high school I came to England to study journalism. I haven't regretted that choice for a second.
I study my handsome friend as she cakes a toast with a tuna, Flo's dark and frizzy hair is in a cute little bun on top of her head. her long thick eyelashes create shadows on her dark cheeks.
"You know I think you party way too much, babe," She mumbles after swallowing her last bite.
I roll my eyes while taking a sip of my diet coke. "I know, I know. But you know that you can't stop me from doing it."
"Hi girls!" Lieve's excessive voice rhytms in my ear. I love her, but that hassle between her and Flo must really stop at once. She sits into the empty chair next to me. "Waar hebben jullie het over?" (What are you guys talking about?)Flo raises her eyebrow, but doesn't say anything else. I know she finds it annoying when Lieve speaks to me in Dutch."Nothing, sweetie." it's our inside joke to convert Lieve's name to english because it's the literal translation of her name. "How was your class?"Lieve keeps talking- in Dutch - about the assignment of some article she has to write. After a couple of minutes Flo stands up, she's probably feeling ignored. she walks towards one of the big trash cans to throw away the remnants of her lunch, and without giving us another glance, she disappears from the canteen. I know I probably should feel guilty, but embarrassingly enough I don't care if she feels left out.
"Jesus, what's her problem?''
I look in Lieve's sparkling blue eyes, "No idea.''i say ''Hey are you going to the Escape tonight?'' ''Of course!" Excitement shoots through my blond haired friend the Escape, is a nightclub in London where Lieve and I can be found almost every weekend. Not only is there a happy hour every Saturday, there are also the most delightful English men. It's at this particular club that I've been promoting my lifestyle of one night stands.
