in which Danielle is still a chicken

I took the elevator down to the lobby with the guys, who groaned in pain with every step they took.

"I can't take another day at the School of Rocque." Kendall moaned.

"I can't move my arms." Logan said in pain. 

"Hey, guys!"Tyler skipped towards us. "High five!" 

They all put their hands up, but pulled them back down with a scream of pain.

"Tyler, what are you so excited about?" James questioned.

"Miss Collins says we're having class outside today!" Tyler explained.

"We are?" My eyes widened. "Sweet!"

I high fived Tyler and saw the sad looks on the boys faces.

"I mean..awful." I tried to make it sound negative. "It's really hot and you know, bees, and pollen, and such."

Kendall gave me a small smile that let me know he appreciated my effort, and I skipped off to class.

I took a seat next to Jennifer and groaned dramatically.

"Uh oh." She laughed. "Did you chicken out again?"

"Worse." I told her. "I gave him a shirtless back massage."

"What!" She said in shock. "Dani, that literally is the exact opposite of what I told you to do."

"Oh wait, It gets better." I sighed. "I was cold so I borrowed a hoodie, and when I went to give it back he told me to keep it because it looks better on me."

"Oh, God, what are you doing to yourself?" She gave me a pity look.

"What do I do?" I groaned, placing my head in my hands.

"Okay, okay, this is an easy fix." Jennifer reassured me.

"It is?" I peeked at her through my fingers.

"You just have to tell him how you feel." She suggested. 

"Oh yeah. That's so easy." I scoffed. "What am I supposed to say? Hey, Kendall, you know me, your best friend. I'm just here to tell you that I've been in love with you for, let's see, our whole lives."

"Um, I guess so."

"What if he doesn't feel the same way?" I asked. "Then, I've just made things awkward and ruined the most comfortable relationship I have ever had."

"But what if he does feel the same way, Danielle?" She countered. "Are you going to ruin what could potentially be the love of your life because you're too scared?"

"Yes, that's exactly what I plan to do!"

"You can't do that to yourself, girl." She scolded. "At least think about telling him."

"What if these are just misconstrued feelings?" I thought aloud. "This is a new place, with new people. What if I'm just clinging on to Kendall because it's familiar?"

"And that may be the case." She answered honestly. "But you will never know until you try something. Either date him, or someone else, but sitting around and not acting on anything will only leave you stuck."

"You're right." I conceded.

"I'm a Jennifer." She grinned. "I always am."

So the boys had finally gotten Gustavo to let them attend the Palm Woods school, and both Katie and Mrs. Knight had gotten jobs in a commercial that we were currently watching. 

 "Kids don't always get along, but they do always get dirty." Mrs. Knight spoke as Katie and some other boy fought in the grass. "So if yours are mud-magnets like mine, be sure to use Suds-O laundry detergent. The only detergent that knocks out stains."

"Nice job." Kendall congratulated Katie.

"I am loving this town." Katie smiled.

"So am I." I smiled at Kendall as the bell rang. 

"Okay, time to do school, Palm Woods style."

Me and the guys sat down behind the Jennifers, and they leaned forward and said, "Hello, ladies.", to which I rolled my eyes.

"Okay, class, let's start with science." Miss Collins stood up from her desk. "Where we're gonna talk about water displacement."

The guys cheered, stood up on the table, and starting spraying everyone with water guns as they hooped and hollered.

When none of us were pleased, they stopped what they were doing.

"This school was much more fun in our fantasies, wasn't it?" Logan spoke.

 "Yep." We all said in unison.

The boys were given a detention, and everything felt right in the world.
