in which Kendall and Danielle go on a kind of date..maybe

---

My alarm clock blared the next morning and for once I didn't hit snooze.

Today was the day. Today I go on my maybe date with Kendall.

I showered and got ready in a flash, meeting him out front in the lobby at 12:30 just like we talked about.

"You ready?" He asked me and I nodded, smiling.

We ate a quick lunch at Olive Garden and as time went on my nervousness faded away. I forgot how easy it was to talk to him.

As we walked into the ice rink, my heart flooded with joy and I felt like a kid in a candy store.

I laced up my skates as quickly as possible and drug Kendall on the ice with me.

There wasn't a lot of people on the ice, considering it was a Friday afternoon and most people were still at work or in school, and I was so thankful for that.

As soon as I hit the middle of the ice, my muscle memory took over and I began doing moves from one of my old competition routines.

As I finished a basic axel jump I skated back over to Kendall who was just leaning against the glass and watching me.

"Don't you wanna skate or play hockey?" I laughed, halting myself in front of him.

"I forgot how amazing you are at that." He looked in my eyes, ignoring my question. "You're incredible. I could watch you perform forever if I had to."

I blushed, but did my best to remain calm. "It's been awhile, so I'm a little rusty."

"It's still breathtaking." He smiled. "You look so comfortable out there. You belong on the ice."

"I didn't realize how much I missed it until I got out here." I told him. "But it's so relaxing. It makes me wanna compete again."

"You should." He said. "You'd have a better shot at being noticed for a national team out here anyways, the competition is better."

"Oh, I don't know." I tried to push the thought away. "What if I'm not good enough."

"Danielle Diamond not good enough?" Kendall scoffed. "No chance."

"You have to say that, you're my best friend." I reminded him.

"No." He disagreed. "As your best friend I have to tell you the truth, good or bad. And this is the truth: You are amazing at figure skating. Better than amazing. You're fantastic at it. And it's your dream. Just because we moved here to chase mine and the guys' dreams, doesn't mean you don't get to chase yours too."

I nodded.

"Stay here and keep practicing." Kendall ordered. "I'm going to ask them about their competition team."

I knew he was right, so I did what he said. I went through as many turns and jumps as I could until my legs were too sore to go anymore.

I got off the ice, unlaced my skates, and went to Kendall who was talking to an older lady who I assumed worked at the rink.

"Danielle, this is Mrs. Stewart, she owns the rink and she's in charge of the competition team here."

"Hi Mrs. Stewart." I grinned, shaking her hand.

"Please, call me Coach Donna. You looked amazing out there." Coach Donna complimented me. "Kendall said you've skated your entire life, is that correct?"
