Alicia

1735

We headed down the staircase, very carefully, in order not to step on one another's dress. We slowly got into the dancing hall which is designed as necessary. Everyone is here. Royal families, kings, queens, princesses, pinces. Everyone who is bounded to something royal. Disgusting. They're so arrogant and rude. They believe that the whole world whirls around them and they always brag about their egoistic "achievements" in war. This is really annoying, believe me. But it's needed for me to be fitting and not act rudely in front of a royal member, which is unfair. But this is my duty as a princess and also as the upcoming queen of London. «Alicia, please, act your age honey. You're going to be England's queen one day. You can't act like this,» my mother kept saying.
I don't want to act my age. I want to be free. But no one understands how I feel. Not even Emily. Or Thomas. They believe I'm a doll, that I have to do what they want. «Alicia, you have such a pretty face, but you're appearance is so slovenly», «you need to tighten up Alicia's corset, she's been a little fatter lately», «oh look at Alicia, she's acting like a toddler, she has to act like a princess». I got it. Really.

However, I'm here. Everyone is. And what do I have to do; act like a princess. I approached my mother and father who are discussing with my Aunt and the royal family of France. I've seen them before. They have two boys, who are exactly my age, I think. They're such little devils. They always break things and are not even a little careful. They can be incredibly troublesome.

I gave a bow to everyone who is here and then I got closer to my mother.
«Can I go out in the garden for a while, mother?»
«Of course you can honey. But please make sure your clothes won't get dirty,» she suggested and me and Emily went straight to the garden from the backdoor of the kitchen. We sat on the marble bench under the almond tree. My marble bench. My almond tree. It's my favorite place. I come here to write to my journal or write music. At night it's more beautiful because there is little light and the stars are floating in the sky, so close but never together. They come and repel. Keep distances. Come down to earth sweetheart, the little voice inside me is shouting at me.
«Alice,» Emily said. «I am supposed to keep it a secret, but I need to tell you».
I looked her in the eye, waiting to tell me what she knows.
«Do you promise me you won't tell anyone?» she asked.
«Emily!» I snarled. «Go ahead, tell me».
«Your mother is going to send you to Royaldon academy soon,» she said as I was gwaping, having no words to say anymore.
«What do you mean?» I said with a stutter. «They can not do that,» I snapped back with unstable voice while my chest was going up and down quickly. A tear rolled down my eyes and I wiped it out. But then more and more tears started rolling down my cheeks. They were coming out of me constantly and uncontrollablly.
«They know that I don't want to go there, they know why I don't want to,» I said in tears.
«I shouldn't have told you, God, please stop crying,» Emily said.
«No Emily, you shouldn't have. They should have told me that, from the beginning,» I cried a little more.
«Everything is gonna be fine,» Emily smiled and I bobbed my head negatively.

«Alicia, come here. Aunt Adelaide is going to blow out the candles,» Anna called out as she pushed her curly hair out of the way.
«I'm coming».
Emily pulled me back as I got myself off of the bench.
«Do not tell anyone, okay?» she said and I nodded my head in agreement.

When we finally got to the dancing hall again, I saw Aunt Adelaide in the middle of the room and her birthday cake resting on a table in front of her. After blowing out the candles and stuff like that, everyone started dancing. I got close to Aunt and I wished her «happy birthday» giving her a tight hug. She looked at me smiling and thanked me. She looks really happy.

As I was walking towards to the dining table where Emily was sitting, I felt an arm around my waist pulling me closer to the body of the arm's owner. It is Thomas. I laughed as I pulled a clump of hair out of the way. I rested my hand around his neck and then I placed the other hand upon his. We laughed, we talked and we danced and it was epic. But then I saw a young blue-eyed man with dirty blonde hair and some darker highlights. He is staring straight at me with a severe look on his face. His beautiful face is so familiar, yet I've never seen him before.
«Come down to earth, Alicia,» Thomas shouted in my face. «What happened to you?» he asked.
«What? No, everything is fine,» I snapped back as I kept starring at the young man. «I probably should get going, yes,» I mumbled as I walked up to Emily.
«Do you know this guy? Over there?» I asked waiting patiently for her answer.
«What? No, do you know him?» she asked back.
«No, that's why I'm asking you».
She sighed as she walked up to the kitchen where my mother was.

I decided that I have to know his name my own. I'm not sure if this is good or bad. But I have a feeling pushing me back when I take a step towards him. This is a really bad idea.
«Alicia!» Jake called me out.
«Oh my God Thomas. You scared me,» I said as I was trying to calm down. He really scared me to death.
«Do you mind following me to your room?» he asked happily.
«Why?»
«I want to give you something,» he told me as he got held of my hand, leading me to my room.

«Here it is,» he said when he gave me a box in which was placed carefully a ruffly frock and a matching bonnet.
«Thomas, it's beautiful». It's really beautiful. «Thank you so much».
I hugged him and I swear that this hug gave him chills.

But then I heard a screaming which sent a cold shiver down my spine. The voice screamed with pain and suffer.
«What was that?» I asked Thomas and he looked at me strangely.
I got out of my room and run down the stairs. Something was telling me that was what I had to do.

As I was running, I fell and twisted my ankle. I cried out in pain as I held Thomas's hand who had now showed up.

Hello everyone. I hope you like my stories and if you do, vote for them or leave a comment.

I just wanted to tell you that you should pay a little more attention to the oblique (?) words during reading because they play an important role in the story.

Also, sorry if I made some mistakes, English is just not my native language.

Bye.👋
