        [ Chapter 3 : Can a Shinigami Love? ]

          ~Saturday Morning: Kid's Manor~

        I wake up around 6:00 A.M. I feel something warm... When I look down, I see Kid, squeezing me in a hug.

        "Eeyah!" I scream, trying in vain to get myself out of his embrace.

        Kid's eyes flash I open and he immediately lets go of me. "S-sorry! Force of habit! I swear!" He blushes.

        "Uh, it's... o-okay..." I clutch my heart. "You just scared me." I look around. Maka and Tsubaki Soul are suit rubbing their eyes April sleepily while sitting up, but Black✩Star and Soul are still asleep. 'Logs... They sleep like logs...'

        "Fuyu-chan...? What happened...?" Tsubaki asks, clearly still tired.

        "Nothing, really. I just... I thought I saw a snake..." I lie. 'If I really saw a snake, I wouldn't have freaked out, though...'

        "Ee! Really? Where?!" She screams, trying to make herself somehow smaller.

        "No, no, Tsubaki-chan! I thought I saw one... There really wasn't..." I said, reassuring her.

        "Ok..."

        "Eh heh heh..."

        "Um, Fuyu... I..." Kid stutters. He touches my shoulder for my attention. When I turn around, I see him blushing again.

        "What's with all the yelling? A number one assassin like me needs to get his sleep!" Black✩Star says, waking up. Soul doesn't even stir; he's still sleeping.

        "Just go back to sleep. It's nothing."

        "If it's nothin', why'd ya scream?" He asks irritably.

        "Just go to sleep already! That goes for all of you! Go back to sleep, or it won't be pretty!" I threaten, although laughing myself.

        "Yessir!" Black✩Star says, saluting me, as if we were in the army or something.

        I giggle. 'What is wrong with me?! Why am I acting like this?! This isn't like me!'

        Soon, Kid, Maka, Tsubaki, and Black✩Star are all asleep once again. I stand up and walk to the bathroom.

        Once there, I splash cold water on my face to keep me awake. I try to organize my thoughts. Why did Kid tell me to 'remember soon' yesterday? What did that mean? Why does he blush every time he touches me in any way? Why am I acting the way I am? What is this feeling? Is it love? It can't be, right?

        I slide down the wall until I'm sitting on the floor, hugging my knees. Suddenly, I hear knocking on the door.

        "Fuyu? Are you alright? You've been in there for quite a long time..." Kid asks.

        "Ah! Yeah, I'm, uh, good!" I say, jumping up from the floor. All of a sudden, I can feel how dizzy I am. "I just... can't get my thoughts... in order... My head is swimming... Kid, my head... Ah... ha ha...! Look at that...! I can't... see my hands..." I thud to the granite tiles, my vision blurring. The last thing I hear before I lose consciousness is Kid yelling my name.

          ~Time Skip: Monday, 10:00 P.M.~

        My eyes fly open. I try to take in my surroundings, but all I see is darkness. Darkness... Like my name*...
